Frozen CAMBER

My mechanic recently told me my front right camber is frozen.
He said it would be about $100 parts and labor, which is fine with me - and I trust my mechanic. But honestly, I can't feel a huge difference in performance. Or at least, I don't remember it feeling much different before the camber froze.
THOUGHTS?

I must have misunderstood...
I should explain to you that my car was in a front end collision. The body shop that put it back together had the car first. After I got the car back, I still wasn't happy with the alignment, so I took it to my personal mechanic. He has the latest in alignment equipment, and showed me how terribly misaligned it was, and showed me everything on the computer.
HOWEVER, though the car was driving straight now and not pulling, I had to bring it back to him, because it didn't feel as stable at freeway speed. Especially on those long freeway curves. Before the collision, I remembered getting the car up to 90-100 on those curves and it was still quite stiff. Now the wheel feels loose, and over reacts.
When I brought it back to him and explained this, he took a closer look at it, and it explained ( and this is where I think I misheard him) that ------- is frozen on the right side.
You fill in the blank.
However, the reason I think he isn't trying to perform unnecessary work, is because he said (whatever is frozen) has very little affect on the overall performance of the car, and not fixing it wouldn't casue any damage to other components. His take was, if it bothers you - fix it.
So, perhaps this description might help you figure out what I misunderstood. I welcome your experience and eisdom.
Thanks for your help.

If its looseness you feel, have the tie-rods checked, wheels balance checked, and wheel bearings should be checked. Since I'm not sure how bad your car was hit, it seems out of my hands. Its very hard to have a car "fixed" to be like it was pre-accident.

3 months later, little things are popping up that weren't a problem before. Like the A/C is dripping some skanky *** water inside the car (pass side). I just started using the
A/C, and this is 2 months after I got the car back. Now I have to go back to the body shop that did the insurance work - and hopefully not get into a tangle with them over it. When those symptoms first appeared, I took it to an A/C place, not thinking it had anything to do with the accident. First thing they said after looking at it was "has your car been in an accident?" Upon which, they said "Take it back. They didn't put the A/C together properly." All I could think of was my mechanic telling me to scrap the car. Having said all that, the car really is 95% of it's former self, just a few annoying problems. The car is now paid for, and it has a clear title. It's a 91 SE with only 98k. The black leather interior is flawless, and it still drives like it's former self, if not for the sitffness in the steering that I miss. I'll have my mechanic look a little closer at the tie-rods and bearings. The wheels were already balanced and he said the struts/springs are fine.
Thanks yo.

Not to mention...
The body shop still hasn't furnished me with a list of everything that was repaired/replaced, so even my mechanic is a bit in the dark. Though he was able to point out a few things that were obvious. He's a good guy, no offense taken.

That's crazy
Why would people flame you for being a tech? That's why we're all in this group -- to learn from each other.
I've helped a few people here, and I'm happy to do it. Just as happy to receive it.

I asked how much the mechanic was gonna charge him ? Let's put it this way, most mechanics know that 4th Gen Maxima has individual coils, and the mechanic who quoted this guy was gonna replace each coil cause its part of the "tune-up."
Each coil @ $100+/each, you get the point. Lied about there needed a timing chain changed, and the car had only 65,000 miles on it.
I K&N re-charged his cone filter, changed his plugs, and inspected them. I did his gas filter, changed his PCV, and even found a cracked vacuum hose that had cracked due to heat stress, and was causing his car to stall out on occassions. I diagnosed his entire car, replaced his stock struts with Tokico Blues, and even gave him my old FSTB from my 4th Gen.
Funny thing is, he is now one of my chief financial backers in Maxximum Tuning.

Like I said, it's not that I'm in desperate need of a good mechanic - I like mine alot, and he's fair. It's just that I don't think he's gonna come over to my house on the weekend and play car doctor. It would be good to have a Class 'A' mechanic who is a Nissan enthusiast, offering to swing by my place and fine tune my Max. Know what I mean?
My mechanic is actually a Corevette/Mustang specialist, but he swears by his Benz ML430. At least he has an open mind. And he's been working on my Max since I got it 5 years ago.
No complaints really.
Take care - Hadley

Hadley, LoL, I hear ya, well its good to know you have a good history with your mechanic now, and I consider myself lucky to have lots of experience under the hood of a car. I started on Fords in general, the Honda, then Nissan, then a BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche. I've done a complete rebuild on a VQ30DE, and B16, B18, and B20 Motors. Ford 351W SVO motor, and the list goes on. Currently working on Maximas since I own 2, and guinea piggin it for parts to develop to put my company on the map, and get a piece of STILLENs share. I might be around LA SF and SD in August as my friend will be graduating as a Marine, and then 1st thing to do is stop by STILLEN and find out Jeff the sales director and have a "talk" with him and his comments he made to me over the phone. Then get this boy drunk off his **** and give him his 9 days more of liberty and get his **** to MOS school. Heh, I will be meetin up with Other Maxima.org members I hope...
have fun. Maybe see you there.
