antenna not working.....i think

so i got tired of listening to cd's and decided to tune in on the radio. i turned it on and got nothing but static. so i thought the anteena plug got unplugged for some bizarre reason on the back of the radio.

well i took apart the console and saw that the antenna was plugged into the back of the radio.
but the antenna in the rear does not go up when the radio is on. i havent used my radio since i swapped out my bose audio system....over a yr ago. so i dont know if hasnt been working ever since.

my question is.......where do i start troubleshooting? how do i know if the antenna is actually dead? or how do i know it has something to do with the disconnecting of my bose audio system.

thankx

Maybe the antenna is disconnected on the antenna end.

Open the trunk. Remove the side panel on the right covering the jack and remove the bolts holding the antenna (2 or 3).

Does it even make a sound like it's trying to come up? I just needed to replace the antenna part when mine broke, the motor was working fine.
