there are stupid comments and then there are some comments that make you wonder why people dont just STFU. i mean i've heard stuff such as "nice altima", "4 cylinder or 6?", "is that a 5 series?", "did you get your windows tinted @ %^@#%" "my brother had the SAME car but in coupe" <--- from a dumb chick ! etc etc etc.... but nothing tops the one i got last night. i was with my buddy and we pulled up right into this chevron gas station to grab a few red bulls before hitting the club and i parked right infront of the door. as i was exiting the door, i notice this guy is standing there and just starin at my car, i look at him then look away and get in the car. then he runs to the window and goes "HEYYYYY MAN, ARE THOSE LOW PROFILE TIRES?" and my buddy who was tipsy yells out, "NOOOO WAAAAY MAN, THEY ARE OFF ROAD STYLE" and then we take off. it was just so hilarious, we were laughin for hours. LOL

Even though my Max is stock to the Bone, This forum and Other members cars has really hyped me up about my Maxima.

Whenever i drive with my friends, im constantly pointing out other cars while saying "I can take it".

My friends just nod their head, and say..."dude, Your Maxima Will NOT take it"...so i give them a mean glare and they just laugh.

a few people in my area try to talk me out of modding my four door family sedan and put my money into a real car like a civic or something with v-tec

From an insurance agent last week, trying to get me to buy his policy:

5-spd, huh? Gosh, that's a fast car. My mom has a '99. I think it's faster than my 540, not sure why, it just feels that way.

He tried to patronize me by saying my 98 5-spd is faster than his '97 540i manual. Yeah, try again. If he were honest, it would have been something like this:

5-spd huh? Did it leak from the reverse-switch o-ring? Gosh, that car has more motor than chassis, huh? Handles like c***, I know because my mom has one. It's like a slug doing 60 in the mid 7's, right? Definitely can't hang with my 540.

from the driver of an STX-class Subaru WRX at an autocross last year, walking by as I was putting my track tires on: "Autocrossing a car like that must suck!"

His best time of the day ended up being over a full second behind mine.....

I knew I wanted a 5th gen since I was a sophomore in college. The girl I was dating at the time told me that they have ****-poor quality. I asked where she had heard this from as she had not cited any solid references. Her reply always was 'They just are'.

Suffice to say, I threw the Wards in her face and FINALLY shut her up...

Let's see. The one that pisses me off the most is "your car is SLOW". I have people that always say that to me and then feel like a dumb a$$ when I beat them in a race. I almost knocked this kid out that's supposed to be a "friend" that I got to school with. He claims that back home in jersey, he has a mustang pushing 650 rwhp and that my car is slow as hell and is a piece of s*** and it REALLY gets on my nerves. And of course to make things worse he started the argument of saying nj is better than ny like a d***. Now for the most part the max is not really a race car. But for what it is, I think it's anything but slow considering it will take most of the cars out on the road today.

from an older gentleman at the gas station pumping gas next to me:

"Nice car. Does that thing have Vtec that I hear my son constantly talking about with his friends?"

Nice guy, but apparently not too in tuned with the automotive world.

"Wow, is that the new Altima?!" said in 2004 about my 2002 Maxima by a car salesman at the Nissan dealership where I was getting my oil changed.

"Maximas have never been made in automatic. They are all 5-speeds..." said by the car salesman sitting in the automatic Max I was test driving. After I pointed out the obvious (or not so obvious to him), he came back with, "It is a 5-speed. It has four speeds forward and 1 speed back." Reverse is a direction, not a speed, genius! It's still an inside joke with my friends who know about that story.

HAHA I just got finished(well almost) with my de-k swap in my 95. I took it up to nissan to show a friend of mine(he is a mechanic there) and ask his opinion on how to hook something up. So i had the hood up right in front of his bay and some other guy that worked at nissan(I hope not a mechanic) says:

" I see you put one of those cold air intakes in there.."
haha my friend was like.."thats a whole 2000 motor in a 95"
then the guy was like "oh"
hahahaha I didnt know what to do but laugh and then he just left

Firestone tech after joyriding:
"Whattya got dun to thes theng?!"

I ended up getting a free shifter trim out of it so water under the bridge.

I absolutely HATE when people ask me about my shaved trunk. It's like they don't think I could find the car until I read "Maxima" on the back.

Legitimate question, to an extent.... from the Nissan dealer PARTS MANAGER....

"Where'd you get a different color badge? Is that something you had custom made?"

SE-L's came with the "Titanium tinted" badging.

And from my dad...

"126K on the odometer... how many more miles does it have left to it.... 20K, iif you're lucky?" I replied, "my ex-g/f in Florida has a 95, and she's got 310K on hers... and she beats the dog**** out of it."
