How do I repair curb rash?

How do I repair curb rash? My Spec and the Maxima both came with rims with minor curb rash. I plan to refinish the Spec rims this winter. What process or product should be used to smooth out the curb rash before painting?

This is probably one of the best guides to http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/w...uff-repair.htm

Or you can contact Wheels America. They do repairs of all rims...and overnight. I once had them repair a rim when I literally took off 4 inches of the bead from hitting a curb. They repaired it overnight for about $100. They are located in Duncanville, Texas just outside of Dallas. They can do anything, they even widen stock rims. There may also be rim repair places near you, check the phone book.

Again, Wheels America or any local rim repair shop can do it. The question is is it worth it? With internet rim prices only being generally about $150-$200 per rim is it worth spending the $100-$125 to fix one? Now if your buying high quality rims (the Nismo rims I want are $450 each) then it is definitely worth it.

I was more looking for a DIY solution. I the rims are not worth putting money into them, but I don't mind some elbow grease.

I believe wheel shops heat the rims up and bang them out... not sure, just guessing.

If you wanta DIY, just take a mallet and try to bang it out yourself.

I don't know of any DIY method for straightening rims. With a lot of luck you "may" get them less bent but you will not get them true without proper tooling and a balancer

There are numerous rim shops around. They repair the rash and bends.
