There they go...

Those SE guys are just eaten up with jealousy. They wish that their cars weren't overweight, overstyled, and overpriced. Plus those AE people have it even worse with their heavy, drag inducing body kits and all that metal trim weighing them down...no mere 5hp & LSD upgrade can make up for that.

They think they can pick on us and make themselves feel better. We all know which model is superior.

I'm just waiting for those fat pig GLE's to start up.

THe SEs get LSD and leather/bose/climate control all standard with bigger rims and tires. Atleast in Canada! I don't see any GXEs getting LSD!!

btw GLEs are the BEST Max's period. liquid motor mounts, leather, bose, heated seats/mirrors, traction control, etc.. all standard!

GXE is for people on a tight budget! Of course people wants SE, but they couldn't afford it!

DIFFERENTIAL, WHITE GAUGES, 17s, SPORT TUNED SUSPENSION, BETTER ENGINE MOUNT, COLORED TRIMS, SPOILERS, WAYYY MORE OPTIONS THAN GXE! IN CANADA, SE IS THE TOP BECAUSE ITS HAS EVERYTHING EXCEPT AUTOMATIC.

OK listen you SE owners :)

My GXE came with C&C package meaning no limiter. It also came with cloth upholstery which I replaced for a great leather 5x better than Nissan one. I replaced the whole suspension which is now 10x better than your "SE tuned" suspension. I got a great deal on wheels and spoiler so can't complain here. I'm not too much into white gauges and leather wrapped steering wheel, and I got the sunroof which many of you SE owners don't have.
I'm finished

We GLEs are way too upscale and civilized to play with the dogs. Keep up the SE vs. GXE war, because in the end we all know who's on the top of the power structure.

Re: Re: OK listen you SE owners :)

All I know is most GXE owners end up putting a lot of cash and time into getting their cars to look like SE--and still can't achieve the exact same effect. SE wannabe's hould have just gotten SE to begin with and just avoided "SE Envy" Syndrome. As for suspension, heck, we all upgrade those anyhow so that is a moot point. I, for one, love the white guages, the black window trim, fogs. And as far as I'm concerned, a Max (4th gen at least) with no tail really has NO BOOTY--my baby's got back!

SE all the way!

Good point AZNWONTONBOY!

GXE owner might say that they could get their car and replace everything and have a better car! But just look at the Civic owners! They are thinking exactly what you GXE owners are thinking! CX owners are trying to make their car just as good as the Type-R. But look at the mess they made! Terms like rice and crap poped out because of CX owners. They made a bad reputation for every Civic owners that knows what they are doing or don't want to be a part of it. Isn't the GXE guys the same? GXE guys tries to make their cars just as good as the SE in apperance and performance, but it's not an SE! SE comes more elegant and best of all, people will give respect to SE over GXE.

I have no comments about GT-R badge on Maxima!

Oh really? So you saying I, for example, make a bad reputation for Maxima cars? That's nonsense buddy. I'm not trying to make my car perform like an SE, my car can outperform a stock SE. Why would I spend tons of money to get what I'll have to replace in the future anyway??? You pay more for your "se tuned" suspension and end up replacing it for an aftermarket one just like GXE owners do. So what's the point of buying an SE when most of you replace white gauges with indiglo, just like SprintMax pointed out. What's the point of paying more for a Bose stereo, then complain that it's the worst stereo ever and end up replacing it for an aftermarket stereo? What's the point of getting a car with factory leather when some end up getting a new aftermarket 2 tone leather upholstery?
If you try to use your brain for just a minute, you'll realize that you over pay for your SEs and then end up spending more money to replace all that stuff for something new.

I have the best of both worlds

cause mine is a GSE.

I got a GXE, and I made it look like a SE, so it is a GSE.

If you gonna stay stock, then there is no question that SEs are the way to go. But if you gonna replace everything, GXE will save you some money.

SEs are better than GXEs in a few areas.

1)blacked out door trim (excluding 5th gens.)
2)no governor even in 5-speed
3)body color handles and grille
4)white gauges

It cost me $500(fogs and tail) to make my GXE look like a SE.
The GSE was born!!

With the money I saved, I can do a lot of things.
like, coilovers!

Tell me you wouldn't pick a GXE with coilovers and added fogs and spoiler over a stock SE!

by the way, all automatic Maximas have electronic liquid engine mounts.

the liquied engine mounts

are "active".

engine vibrates differently at different rpms.

The electronic mounts adjust to those variations in engine vibrations. For example, when you are idling the engine is a little rougher, and the mount will somehow compensate for that to make the car smooth. When the car is running on the freeway, the mounts don't need to "do" much to control the vibration. Just how exactly that is done, I don't know.

I'm suspecting that it is probably done by adjusting the firmness of the engine mount, like electronic shock absorbers.

sounds like something that will be mad expensive to fix if that ever stops working.

Actually the GLE is marketed as "top". But we all know the SE is best stock for stock. When you compare modded cars vs. stock cars, you're comparing two different cars entirely, not different models. And that's what this thread was about. One more thing...what is up with this idea that the SE is so heavy compared to the GXE? In Nissan's own brochure, a '99 GXE manual is 3,012 lbs and an SE manual is 3,014. Boy, lemme tell you, those 2 pounds are gonna make SOOOOOOOOO much difference, LOL. The curb weight is so similar that what matters more is unsprung weight...I'd wager the SE's wheels are lighter than the GXE's, reducing unsprung weight and contributing to slightly quicker acceleration. I'm talking extremely slight differences, but the whole point of this thread is over slight differences. They're both great cars, dangit! If you wanna stay relatively stock, get an SE. If you wanna mod the heck out of it, get a GXE. The SE is better off the lot, though.
