Is my car cursed? Electrical gremlin?
Is my car cursed? Electrical gremlin?
Today I was driving and decided to do a run through 2nd gear. Around the time that I shifted into 3rd my wiper fluid started shooting out. At first I thought I had knocked the stalk, but I soon realized I had not, and the fluid was squirting on its own. No amount of jiggling of the stalk would change it, and it didn't stop until it was out of fluid. Even then it still tried to squirt more, and the wipers kept wiping. I eventually pulled the wiper fuse so I could at least drive.
Now the wipers aren't moving, but I'm still hearing a noise from the wiper fluid motor (I believe). It's a faint buzzing noise, and hasn't gone away after an hour of driving.
What in the world could cause something like this, and how do I get it to stop? Do I have to pull the power from the fluid squirter motor? I guess these are the things that happen when cars turn 10 years old....

Since both your wiper motor and wiper fluid motor are affected, I would say it's most likely the wiper stalk, could have a short inside it. I would take the fuses out for the time being so you don't fry the motors, and then try removing the wiper stalk to see if the motors stop. It could also be the timer module, which controls some of the wiper functions, another common problem with the cold soldering that Nissan uses.
I'm having basically the same problem but with mine it's the headlights. They suddenly developed a mind of there own and work (or don't work) whenever they damn well please. In my case, it all started with a clutch adjustment. I've replaced the switch in the signal stalk and sitll have the same problem. Is there anyone out there with a wiring diagram for a '90 SE? Oh yeah, now the only way to start the car is push it and dump the clutch........new starter and still nothing!
