I was getting on an onramp and I see a merge between my lane and his lane. I gun it and this 740i guns it and we are pretty neck to neck. Then I hit about 5000 rpm and slowly pull until I'm ahead of him on the merge. I get to the left hand side and the jerk flys by me and gets in front of me. I don't mind, just chilling with my girl going to dinner but he goes to the right hand lane. So since I am on the passing lane, I just cruise by him going a nice 80 mph. The guy then starts tailgating me! But the highway is kinda crowded so I don't wanna play. He then gets right next to me and matches speed. By this time, I have to get to the right for the offramp and he won't let me pass or slow down! So, I have like 3/4 of a mile left so I slam the brakes and make a hard right and make it to the offramp and the guy follows me...until the very end he stays on the freeway. During this time I could see he was kinda peeved that my poor $20,000 japanese mass production car got ahead of his high and mighty german engineering

Someone slap me if I ever get that arrogant.

Remember the old joke, whats the difference between a bmw(or other high priced car) and a porcupine, in the bmw(high priced car) the ****** are on the inside.

Naw, wasn't really mad. It's just I don't like slamming my brakes on the highway to get to the other side. Having a little fun is all well and good, but there are times where it is inappropriate and I consider a semi-crowded highway inappropriate. I also don't like when someone tailgates me for spanking his sorry *** on the freeway

What does the guy tailgating you or not letting you get over have to do with him being stuck up? It's being an *******, but not stuck up. It really annoys me when people classify other people by the cars they drive. "All civic owners are riceboys", "all BMW owners are stuck up". What a bunch of crap. Just because you have a bad experience with someone whos an *** or an idiot and they drive a certain kind of car doesn't mean that every owner of that kind of car is an ******* or an idiot. My brother drives a 93 BMW 325I, and my best friend drives a 92 325IS. Neither of them are *******s. My brother doesn't even like to tell people what kind of car he drives because he is worried that they will think he's just some stuck up rich kid whos mommy and daddy bought him the car. Well I've got news for ya, neither of us have ever gotten one red cent from our parents to go towards anything car related. Same with my friend, he paid for his car in full, and loves his car. I love BMWs, the only reason I'm not driving one now instead of my Maxima is because it would be rather lame to drive the same car as your brother. BMWs are great cars, and we shouldn't be faulting people for driving great cars. BTW, I'm sure there are plenty of stuck up Maxima owners as well.

I'm pretty sure that a 740 could walk a maxima from 70 mph on too. I wouldn't boast that you smoked a 740.

Haha, chill dude. I did say SOME BMW owners are stuck up. I have tons of friends with bimmers too. I just got the impression he was stuck up because the dude didn't even look at me when we were side to side. No smile, nothing. At least he could have waved or something

BTW, I was surprised I pulled on a 740. If he wasn't going hard, then he has a real problem with attitude when somebody passes him up on the highway

Although you must admit that BMW's have some very nice stock handling. I've driven just about all classes of them. I some jerk was tailgating me, I would have kept brake checking him until he learned. Oh well.

ah the good old 1.9L Z3, my Miata used to enjoy eating them for lunch

But definitely, I agree with you guys, that alot of Bimmers (could you say "Eurosnob") owner "tend" to be arrogant (although I knew 2 out of 50 who are friendly), sad part is many of BM owners have no clue on what's under the hood on their cars.

Sour grapes.

I find it hard to believe that one would take a Maxima over a BMW.

Why do you find that hard to believe? In all honesty, if you offered me a 330, sure I would pick the 330 over the Max but I've test driven a 325 and that thing sucks. Give me a 260 hp SE with all the options and it would still be waaay cheaper than a 325 and faster too. But to each his own.

Actually, it's no big deal. BMW drivers tend to be more aggressive than most. I was on the freeway today and my lane is one where is "ends" and you must merge left. I was only half way into the left lane in "mid change" when this 330i blows by me on the right side. What an arrogant a$$ I thought. But then the 330 got stuck behind traffic and I just cruised by on the left lane.

The way I see it, I think it's okay to drive aggressively if you have a performance vehicle, but driving dangerously is another thing.

It maybe true to some extent and it may also vary from each individuals. I've know people who went out their way to grab the car they really wanted all along.....BMW...even if it meant taking a bigger loan and working 2 jobs or buying them used. Point is, I don't think everyone would take a BMW over a Maxima or any other cars. I for one, would not, and I speak based on my experienced, I had the chance to grab a BMW but passed and decided to get a VW Passat and an Audi (got it b/c I already have a Maxima). And soon I'd be in the market to get another car, and yes most likely I'd take a 5th or 5.5th generation Maxima over a 3 series Bimmer.

BMW nice car though...

Likewise, I'll take the slower Porsche Boxster over a faster C5 convertible...because it's a Porsche.
You get what you pay for...I forgot to mention that; it always comes down to the $$$.
