I saw an '99 Si take out a few Maxs....

my frined's SI is stock and runs 15.7....thats good enough to take out stock VGs, and auto VEs and VQs. but as for the EXs, DXs and LXs(and dare I mention the HX and CX ), the Max wins hands down!

You know the first Civic was made in late 70s. You going have to be more specific on what model and year of the civic. There are old beater civics that run 18s and there are civics like Stephan Papadakis that run 8s.

For auto 95/96, 15.5 is possible. But for auto 97-99, 15.5 stock is pretty hard to pull off. Most stock auto 97+ run 15.8 - 16.2.

Re: kind of hatch

a stock LS engine in a hatch is only good for mid 15s. You should able to take him if you have a 5-speed. It will be a close race if you are auto.

Good comeback.. Yep, the Civic Type R's were never sold in the states so all those Civic's you see with the Type R badges are a buncha posers.. Either way, I would take a Max over a Civic wether it's a Type R or SI..

i thought the civic type r has 185 hp? anyways

the stock auto 97-99 vq has a timeslip of 16.7 plus?

er, thats not good, my auto vg runs 16.4 with just intake and aftermarket muffler

what you just read was pretty much useless and pointless, i just felt like being a post *****

As for the Civic Type R, they can be imported, though thats very rare. I saw one last saturday (a real one, straight off the boat from Japan) at Hot Import Nights in Chicago. The engine, can be bought, or imitated by using various parts on a B16A (still not a true B16B though).

About the LS swap, I know a guy who ran 15.0 with intake header and exhaust on 15" street tires in a 93 hatchback with B18B (Integra LS swap).

Re: kind of hatch

civic's can actually run well below 10's in the 1/4mile if there's enough done to them.... Civic's are just light and have this one size fits all thing about them... most guys who do mods to them would prefer it if they could just take the steel frame off of the assembly line because it would save them the time of taking everything out of it.....

as for a 'stock' civic beating a maxima, no.... it's an economy car and although the 4cylinders that you can hear a block away might sound like they're doing a lot, they are slow stock; fun to beat on, but slow none the less

But then again, you realize that if you put enough moeny into anything...it'll be fast. I've seen a 80's chrysler minivan run 1/4 in 12.7, the guy put two monster turbos on it. you can do anythign with enough work and money, there's a civic running 8's isn't there? But with enough money we could do the same with the max...

Luckily, i live in severe suburbia, so i can laugh at almost everybody cuz they're ALL slow!
