Sealant or Gasket...?

Sealant or Gasket...?

Alright guys.....i need to stop a leak, and i was wondering what can handle the temperature of the Coolant better..... Sealant, Gasket or both?
Need to fix this asap.. thanx...

Always use a new gasket. Sealant helps too.

ok....big problem....
its leaking from the elbow that connects the coolant to the motor.
If you open the hood, its on the front of the engine on the left side (Passenger side)
my friend was trying to tighten the bolt (there are 2 bolts) that holds on the the elbow, one on top left and the bottom right.
the bottom right bolt broke off, and we have part of the bolt in the whole.
we have tried drilling it out, using bolt extractors, and that is not working....
last resort..... somehow glue that pipe shut...
do you guys recommend anything?
im screwed, and i think it'll be stupid to have to replace the whole engine because of that.

is there anything out ther that can pretty much glue the pipe together with the engine? some sort of quick steel or something like that?
help guys.... thanx.

u mean thermostat housing? if so, a replacement with a gasket should be less than $30 from the dealer. btw, its held by 3 bolts.

its 2 bolts that is holding on to the elbow.....
since we are not able to take out one of the bolts, on the bottom right, now we only have one bolt that can tighten the elbow which is on the top left corner....
drilling is not doing much, so i might have to find something that can hold the elbow together with the engine.
is there anything strong enogh?

Not much. Epoxy won't hold that. Even JB weld. I don't think it is strong enough. Some ppl said it works on stuff like that i mean you cold try it. Try the extra strong one not the fast dry as it is weaker. And it needs at least days to dry completely. Also keep in mind that if it doesn't work it will be a mess cleaning. So do it as a last resort before replacing motor
You either have to drill it out perhaps with an angle drill or drill a new hole besides it somehow if possible. I'd have to see it.

drilling wont do much, for i've been trying for the past hr.
just got some JB weld, that claims to hold up to 600 degrees F.
and about 4,000 psi. im really hoping this works.....
will sure take time on this one. and hopefully after car is on, ill take it somewhere to get it welded tighter.

Bring the car to a good mechanic. Drilling out broken bolts is actually easy with the right equipemnt.
Your wasting your time trying to fix that yourself.
