fuel gauge, thread sealant-help

What kind of thread sealant am I supposed to put on the sending unit for the gauge? It said to use silicone sealant and that is what I used but it is leaking fuel still through the threads. It is tight enough, but the sealant is not holding properly. I noticed there was gasket sealant, and a whole bunch of other ones, but I didn't see anything that was made for a pressurized gas system. If anyone has any recommendations, let me know. thanks.

I think you are right, the directions said to use the liquid but I don't think it dried fast enough and the gas got to it and blew it out.

Thanks bvtran, but I got it figured out. I think that is the stuff I used the first time but I guess I didn't give it enough time to cure. I ended up using teflon tape and it worked fine. I appreciate the help guys.
