Please Dont Street Race!!!!!! Read Me!!!

Well ive been working on my 15 posts so that i could post this today. I just found out a freind of mine was killed while racing his brother. He was only 17 years old. His tib was SC and his bro has an SRT-4. They were on the main roads during the day and he lost controle of his car. He died on impact and it has been a complete shock to all of us and everyone on NewTiburon.com that knew him as well. The link is the news article showing the wreck ect.. PLEASE use common sense and keep it on the track!! Its not worth the loss of life and the pain you can cause others and your family.

Wow sorry to hear about your friend and his family. Most people on this site are con street racing, and anyone who does street race usually does it out on the highway late at night. Just be safe out their guys!

People in the area said they thought it was his bro but that is the general concensus. Matches the description and by now im sure they will know if it was 100% him or not.

Fort Campbell? Were either of you or your family in the military there?

I had family stationed there on two seperate occassions. I know what people drive like there, especially on 41-A.

I hope your family allows themselves time to grieve. I am so sorry for your loss. What a heartache.

No i was never military & my bro was stationed at fort benning. I knew him from Tiburon meets, meeting up to help out with mods, and chating online ect. He was a damn good guy. Always had a smile on his face and would bend over backwards to help anyone who needed it. Everyones still in that "WTF!!!" frame of mind.

Oh man, I believe it!

I wondered what brought y'all to F/C. There wasn't much there for young fellows to do.

Sorry to hear about that. Unfortunately, it's yet another reason inexperienced drivers should not be driving fast cars. Wonder when parents will learn their lesson......

My first car when I was 17:

1987 Ford Bronco II. I didn't get the max until I was 21. Those 4 years make a HUGE difference in maturity on the road. Some people start driving when they're 12. I know of a couple of guys whose parents had all sorts of vehicles; snowmobiles, quads, dirtbikes, and trucks. The kids would be driving and riding them around their property all day and night. Needless to say, they were plenty experienced when they started driving on the road at 16, but maturity is entirely another issue. People that age just don't car about the dangers of what they do, they still feel "invincible". They never think it will happen to them, and they'll never even have time to know when it actually does.

We can go on for days, weeks, whatever. The truth is right now as we speak, there is another person racing on the road, and before the day is done, there will be another car wrecked, and another person dead. Truly sad.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

If it was his brother that he was racing why did he not stick around when he saw his brother wreck?

Condolences to you and your friends. Very sad to hear about anyone dying in a car accident. I'm just glad that your buddy didn't murder the elderly person in the Caddy. I wish this site wouldn't condone street racing...

In what way does it? Most people get flamed for racing on the street, even in the weekend battle forums quite often...

That caddy held up pretty well, which is fortunate for the driver, but I'm sorry about your friend...you're always taking a risk doing stupid activities such as that and the odds weren't in his favor that day...

That's why I started out with a 3rd gen.... THEN bought a a 5th gen. And mommy and daddy played no financial role in either of my vehicles, which are paid off.

im sorry about your friend

in january i lost a friend and 2 other people i kinda knew
all in the same accident... its sad, and makes you realize things

i definitely agree upon the maturity level of drivers and the vehicle they drive, (POS or not)
if they think its fast.... and they are in that type of crowd... they are going to try and race someone...

but, when i had my accident it changed the way i drove from it

I have no idea. If it was it might have been just the shock of it happening and the fear of what might happen. Some people just panick.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I just wanted to show everyone the consequences of racing on the street and to please just be careful and keep it on the track.

I learned my lesson when I was 17. I had just bought a POS 79' Honda Accord hatchback. I put new tires on it and decided to go for a test run. I was on this really curvy road that had a speed limit of 25. I had run it up to about 70 mph and went to take the corner. I realized I was going to fast to make the turn and got on the brakes too hard. The rears locked up and the car started to turn untill it was sliding completly sideways (can't believe it didn't start rolling.) and it slowed down to about 50 and the tires caught which sent me head on into the dirt embankment on the side of the road. I remember being suspended in mid air on the seat belt when it hit. There was some kind of steel plate under the dash and my knee went into it very hard. I now have a huge scar to remind of that. and Now I always learn the limits of my cars before pushing them hard. Seatbelt DO save lives because I would have been head first into that dashboard or out that window had I not been wearing it.

The thing i notice is the people who drive slower cars, dont seem to drive like idiots, while the people with slower cars do. I think the reason why the people who have faster cars dont drive as fast is because everyone already knows there car is fast so they dont have to prove anything. The people with slower cars that are modded, people dont know how fast tehy are, so they feel the need to race every person they come into contact with to prove how fast it is.

Thats my theory, could be right or wrong, but i know when i drive the vette, i get a lot of looks and it seems like every car i pull up beside trys to get me to race.

Thought id add soemthing in about the maturity thing.

Being 18, i think i have matured a lot since i started driving, and i know some of my freinds are very immature when it comes to driving.

When i first started driving, i drove like a 80 year old women, if i drove past a cop id panic, if a cop was behind me, id seriously pull over and let him pass me because i was scared id do something stpid under the pressure. Now that ive been driving for almst 3 years i drive alot differently though. Not like an idiot, in some cases i do drive fast, and im not going to lie that, i have participated in street racing, it wasnt planned it just sort of happened.

Now all that of may seem irrelevant, but my friend just got his license, hes 17, hes had it for about 2 weeks. He scares me, he is the reason why people my age get bad reps because of there driving, in a 50 zone, he claims hes done 180, and when we went out for lunch i was doing 60 (50 zone) in the rain, he flew past me doing atleast 120. The worst thing is he just doesnt care, he thinks hes the best driver out there, and that nothing is going to happen to him. His parents basically bought him an brand new Jetta GLI 2.0T. Now that thing isnt scary fast, its pretty damn quick though, and he lacks the maturity that someone should have at his age.

Id say that i am a pretty mature driver, unlike some people i dont drive like an idiot, and i realize that a car is basically a gun with a broken safety. What ever way you choose to use it, it could be either dangerous or safer. Driving a car is never safe even if you are the best driver in the world, because you have millions of other drivers out there who maybe arent as skilled or are easily distracted.

Heh, I did the same thing when I was 18 and got my car. Went into a 25mph turn going around 70 thinking I was the ****, then slammed the brakes as I went into it. Car did a 360, front bumper scuffed up against the center dividing wall. Very lucky to not have hit that wall, but I went back the next day and practiced, hehe. Now I take that same turn going like 80 haha, good times.

Guess we have all had are first scuffs when we were just young bucks out there. I was 15 (i know i know, and i have matured GREATLY since then) and i had my 98 subaru legacy sedan for a week. and i wanted to test it out. I hit a turn at about 65 or 70, started to slide, over corrected and spun 270 degrees the other way. So now im doing about 50 mph and then hit a road sign. Since then I have had drivers ed, safe drives course and drive day, race instructions, and most importantly 4 years of mountain and city driving experience.

I hope you never get into an accident.

I used to hang w/the NewTiburon.com crew, great bunch of people. Always pushing the limits just like Maxima forums due to lack of North America aftermarket support.

Be safe out there everybody. At the moment a choice is made, it was right. It's hindsight that tells us if it was right or wrong.

Cool deal. Why dont you still hang with them? I know what you mean about pushing the envelope. Right now the Puerto Rican crew has squeezed over 400whp on the stock block and TC with NextGen is well over 500whp With his built motor from last report and should be even more soon. There was apparently a falling out with NT and NextGen so he stopped being a sponsor and no one has heard anything since. APE motors has there 4cyl, Street legal tib running 10s in the 1/4 and plans on more so i guess its a wait and see. Miss my tib big time but i do love the max. Might do some stuff to it or i might just throw on a nice set of rims, work on my system, and make it my cruiser.
