completely re-painting pearl max

i have a 2000 icelandic pearl max and i am going to get it completely repainted. I would like to keep the car almost the exact same color it is now without having to use nissan paint becuase it chips pretty bad. i am wondering if anyone else has repainted their pearl max and the resulting color was very close to the oem color. if so please list the name of the color and the company. pictures would be nice too. thanks.

Are you repainting simply because of a bunch of chips?

Alpine White? It's a color used by BMW, looks great on their cars. That's what I'd recomend, I don't know how well it'll match up with the stock color now, but Alpine White looks great.

Nissan doesn't make paint, they build cars.

I thought it comes down to paint manufacturer pertaining to paint quality. I heard Omni paint is a cheaper alternative to PPG and also made from the same company (from what I read on some autobody forums).

I believe my car was painted with Duplicolor and it is very close to OEM. I don't have any pics to prove it is close to OEM tho, you would have to see it in person.

color match has nothing to with the paint company is has to do with the body shop. i paint for a body shop weve used several different paint brands and we always get it to match. the clear is were it makes a differnce make sure they use a high quality clear. and more coats is not always a good thing, atleast not on an everyday driver.

I used rustoleum brand to repaint my trunk. read up on pros and cons of it (esp while using mineral spirits to thin it to get a nice smoother finish). pretty off the shelf stuff from home depot, lowes, etc. might be able to get it mixed to the right color. you can also find out the cars paint color code (if still original) directly from the dealer by providing VIN number. then u can go to home depot or lowes to get it matched (i believe).

Just make sure you take your car to a good paint shop. Expect to pay minimum few thousands though.
