My car was violated!

So I was school last night (A place I already despise more than the beast himself), and I walk out to my car totally violated. They busted my window to get in, totally mutilated my dash, so the entire thing will probably need to be replaced, they tore my back seat out (to look in the trunk I imagine), only after they totally destroyed my trunk trying to pry the lock out, and half tore my wing off in the process. Stupid amateurs, ruined my car, and basically got nothing. They swiped my 8500, tried to get my radio out, but only took the face plate of a less than 200 dollar radio, and managed to do 2 grand worth of damage for 50 bucks worth of stuff.

Man that suks, Eric. Let me know if I can help out if you'll be doing some of the work yourself.

Do they have any security cameras in the lot?

Just the factory, which did no good when they yanked the battery cable off after they broke in. The school parking security is a joke, it's dark, secluded, and there was no one around. The alarm was probably going off for at least 15-30 seconds and no one gave a d@mn.

I'd like to do it all myself, but waiting to see what the insurance comp has to say.

They don't even have enough lights to see anything if they did have cameras. Read my post above about the quality of the lot security.

They plan to replace my radio with a Pioneer DEHP5800MP, anyone got any suggestions on this unit, equivalent, or better units? Adjuster comes out tommorow. Think it's possible to fix the padded part of the dash, or am I going to have to replace the whole thing?

wow that sucks. It sucks that they did a wonder to your trunk too. Makes you almost wish they had hit the trunk release and not done all that damage.

I have Country Insurance, and I have to say, they have been pretty good. My claim is basically resolved. Looks like I'll be getting about 2 grand, which goes fast considering I need a new dash (700 bucks). I opted to do the work myself. (Tom, this is where your assistance comes in )

I've got a Premier DEH7500MP. It's a few years old but pretty much the same deck. Mine has given me a few problems, the display sometimes looks like it loses half the resolution. You can see everything still, but the image isn't quite as detailed, that happens every once in awhile but will go back to normal after clearing the deck's memory by disconnecting the batt... The volume **** popped out, mine was barely still under warranty but if not, it would have been a $14 part The MP3 decoder isn't as stable as it could be. Some tracks blip and blop playing files encoded with Cool Edit Pro. For the most part its a good deck. It has plenty of eq, boost, and filter options to help you get the sound you want.

Damn theives, i've been jacked twice but luckilly I didn't really care and got newer and better equipment both times. Hopefully your rates won't go up because of the claim, they do that now. And why did you leave your faceplate on??

any time you get violated it sucks. it suck even more when it seems an inexperienced car thief attempts it and just causes more damage than neccessary. i been through it.... invest in a two way. theif probably knows your ride and the area, hell he might go to school with you. invest and make sure they dont hit again after you fix it.

I'm thinking about getting an optima, and using both the top post and side posts to power the car so if this happens again they can't disable everything with the yank of a cable. It's almost impossible to get to the side posts if I put them towards the back since my overflow is there because of the S/C.

My guess is they didn't know what the heck they were doing. Even with power they probably didn't know the release is on the door. Looks like they looked in the glove box for a trunk switch possibly (will it open with the alarm going off?). If I did have subs back there they wouldn't have gotten them without a lot more work (and damage I'm sure). 4 screws with a screwdriver and a wire cutter and they could have had the whole console out (I'm going to switch those to allen head screws too, most thieves don't carry those.), instead they tried to yank the whole thing out. Let me tell you, the dash is very strong in that area, they bent the heck out of the steel trying to get it out, but were unsuccessful. I need something to put where my touch screen will be that looks like a factory radio or something. (luckily the screen wasn't in when they hit)

destroy your car for 50 bucks worth of stuff... maybe enough for a bag of dope or a few rocks. sad.

hopefully insurance will cover the repairs and you can get a fat new system!

That totally sucks. If this was Saudi Arabia, they would have their hands cut-off by law.

I ran out there, but no one was present. I put the code in to turn off the alarm and looked around. They opened the hood and I guess where going to get my h.i.d fogs? I dunnno. But it was wierd.

Sorry about the robbery.. That sucks a lot. Well theyll be into some hardcore Karma sooner or later...
