Can locks be re-keyed?

Does anyone know if Maxima lock cylinders can be re-keyed? My car was broken into and the locks destroyed. I have a parts car I can steal the parts from if they can be re-keyed to match my ignition. (99 Max)

Local dealer said they can only be keyed once, is he full of crap?

i asked this question at the dealer the other day (i suspected the alarms ppl just f***ed the lock for "added safety") and the guy said that the lock thing will have to be replaced (50 bucks each, for my 94 max gxe). i believe he said i will need new keys altogether. he also suggested a locksmith to take a look. just call any dealer and see what can be done.

i have a 94 max and when the automatic locks circuit screwed up (includes remote entry), i couldnt get into my car. i ended up having to break into my own car (popped trunk to get a long rod (rubber tip on it) and screwdriver). after the first shot i got it down to a few seconds to get into my car. my manual locks were just curved enough for me to do it.

You might consider doing the same d=)
