On Saturday I went to 76 gas station that carries 103 octane gas.I bought about 8 gallons of it and added fuel injector cleaner and a +3 octane point booster I bought at the auto parts.I think everyone should do this when they go to the track.I immediately could tell there was alot less hesitation and just pure motor it was running nice and tight until today I think it is wearing off.

higher octane fuel (above 94) will do nothing to an NA maxima. I have proven this by running out of fuel at the track and then buying some racing fuel and not running any faster even though the ouside temp was dropping.

That chevron teckron stuff does work well if used every 10,000 miles or so.

Are you serious dude? 106 octane it was...Maybe it just cleaned my injectors out good or something I dont know maybe my car needed it.But I swear it made a difference on my Max.Also in my boat if I use regular pump gas it pings so I have to put VP racing fuel in it.And it makes a big difference.

Let's dispell some myths here. High octane fuel (93+) will do nothing for a NA 10:1 compression late model V6. Fuel octane ratings are related the fuel's ability to burn. Higher the octane, the more resistant it is too burn. Technically speaking, higher octane fuel is LESS flammable. High compression motors run higher octane fuels to reduce the potential knock (detonation) encountered under high loads. Air becomes very hot when compressed and the potential of detonation increases. Adding the high octane fuel reduces the potential for detonation. Power adders like turbos, NOS, and superchargers increase cylinder pressure and heat dramatically therefore higher octanes are necessary.

Running octane higher than needed will do two things. It will decrease performance and could possibly foul the o2 sensors or the cat. The decrease in performance is caused by the fuel's resistance to burn. The 02 sensor and or cat can become fouled or burned because of the excess unburned fuel going thru the system. It should also be noted that many 100+ octance fuels use lead to get the high octane levels.

Simply put, any gain from 93+ octane in a NA Maxima is most likely in your head.
