Is it possibe to change a: 5x114.3 wheel bolt pattern, to a 5x115 bolt pattern? If so, how? If not, why? And what are the possible negatives of doing this? Thx!

A buddy of mine is willing to sell me a set of wheels that he has for cheap because, his GF is about to have a baby. But I'm not sure if they will fit my Max. I believe (???) his bolt pattern is: 5x115 and the Max's I know is: 5x114.3 That's why I'm asking the question/questions.

why would you want to chage from 114.3 to 115?

depending on the offset and width of the wheels, you may be able to use some spacers on them with new studs, which can easily be made to fit different bolt patterns.

My recommendation is to buy them, steal the tires off them, sell the rims for more $$ than you paid for them, then buy some new rims with the proper bolt pattern.

Those better be some sweet wheels to go through all that hassle.

I know, back in the day, W-Body guys were using 5x114.3mm bolt pattern wheels even though the cars used 5x115mm. They just always used hub centering rings and never seemed to have any trouble. Maybe it will work in reverse?

even that .7mm difference is enough to severely FUBAR your wheels studs and you'll eventually wind up with a catastrophic failure of wheel studs snapping at the worse possible moment. not something I want to see happen here.

check this guy.. i've used him before.. you are going to need an adaptor... meaning changing from 114.3 to 115. This is a special custom made plate to fit your application, but it is possible...

That is really stupid of him. The would cause the whole car to vibrate because the wheels wouldn't be sitting right.... and definitely would cause the wheel studs to break. I would know.. because my friend's dad put some AMG wheels on his LS400 and... ta dah! broken wheel studs due to major vibrations and other stuff...

I had a W body, and all the wheel manufacturers swore a 114.3 would fit, and it did, and I didn't get any vibrations, but I was always concerned about the wheel studs snapping. I didn't have the rims on for long, was not comfortable. Anyhow, there are cars with the 115 diameter, he's probably not rounding up.

its acutally very possible. u can get a wheel shop or a machine shop to re-drill the wheel and add metal inserts to them because its not much difference. ive done this plenty of times from 5*112 benz to 5*114 maxima and ive had no problems

5x114.3 and 5x115 is different but you can make it fit.
Go to Local rim shop and they will take care.
