What Is A Key FOB??

This is the dumbest post yet, but what does FOB stand for when refering to a Key FOB?? I cant find it online anywhere.

FOB is anything that attatches to your keys usually the keyless entry remote.

also FOB-Fresh Off the Boat. but thats another story

Fresh Off the Boat-I remember that phrase back in the day.
A Key fob is some kind of ornament or gizmo that attaches
to your key ring.

I think it is FOP nowadays (Fresh off the Plane)

fob, relating to keys, dates from the days of pocket watches and had meaning as a word, not initials. (no electronics then)
