Get off our board.. you.. celica owner!! =P Umm If you're going with the auto maxima with blower. Get Don's valve body mod and a tranny cooler before getting the Y and stuff.. I think you can expect high 14s with those mods.

if speed is what matters, maybe a MR2 turbo, those are going under 20k. if funds allows, SupraTT is obviously the ultimate speed machine.

umm..

Zumble:
I'm sorry but don't S/C'd mamxima's run A LOT faster than low 15's high 14's

Now i could be wrong but this is why i assumed this..
JimW had the fastest NA auto maxima.. and he ran 15.1

so your telling me an S/C would only take off .3-.4 off the 1/4 mile ?????

i was guessing low to mid 14's at least ?

I don't think that anyone with a S/C'ed auto has run at the track to know. I would expect mid 14's for a stocker. But if you run that kind of power, expect some tranny problems to be coming your way.
I still think that with an ECU and basic bolt-ons, you could get an NA auto into the mid 14's. Keep in mind, you will need some meaty rubber to stick.
My 15.1's were at 94-95 mph, with a 60' time of 2.5-2.6. Traction will become a problem for autos running low 15's.
My only power mods were Y-pipe, Popcharger and JWT ECU.

Re: umm..

Well Bryan said no mods. Just the S/C. I think Mid 14s are optimistic. The definate answer in my opinion would be high 14s.

Get the 98 auto!!

Bryan-

People are running a lot quicker than mid 14s with a S/C auto. With a y-pipe, B-pipe, RT cat, Don's VB, tires and S/C I don't see why low 14s/high 13s wouldn't be possible. Hell, you've seen me run high 14s @ 94mph spinning thru most of 1st. My car is pushing a lot less hp than a automatic S/C Max with the right mods. From what I hear, Don's VB makes a huge difference in the automagic.

Also, Alex KC and myself want someone to install a S/C in the KC area so we know how to do it.

Finally, you do know that there is a smaller pulley you can get for the S/C, right?

You want fast and cheap...

Get an 89-92 Mustang LX 5.0 notchback. You can get clean one's cheap and liability insurance is cheap because it's an LX, not a GT. Run low 14's outta the box. High 13's with a $190 set of gears. Oh, and if you look hard enough you can get the whole car for the same price as a blower for the max.

Re: Get the 98 auto!!

Eh, but you have a 5-speed. Without intake and exhaust I don't expect the S/C to do as well. So if Bryan were to say. CAI/Y-Pipe/RT-Cat/B-Pipe/VB. I would have said low 14s/13s. I still think a Maxima with just the blower and nothing else would only be able to run high 14s.. =)

Doug...

Who says you can't daily drive a Mustang? Or make it look good?...this is just a matter of preference. Yes maintenence will be more frequent on a stang (stock for stock) but will be alot cheaper and easier. Plus with the stock exhaust they're not obnoxiously loud. I think he wants fast and cheap. The stang is a definate contender.

Re: Doug...

Well, I wasn't talking about building up a base model LX 4cyl into a V8. I meant buying a true LX 5.0. I can see where you're coming from with the EX, but I've never heard one bad comment about my modded max or about the Mustang I had. Yea the Mustang gives the impression of a kid that likes to do donuts and burnouts, but Bryan isn't exactly an old man and I'm sure most of us on this board would do burnouts given the opportunity. :-)

[I]I know you can make it a daily driver.. but you know .. when you start with an LX and work it up.. it gives off the bad impression of you if you know what I mean.. like you pull up at a club in a freshly modded EX or you pull up in a slammed SC'ed Maxima.. you know what I am driving at?

the stang kinda gives that bad impression..

and I don't think Bryan really wants that impression..[
