I can still get 94 at all the sunoco's I go to.

Why do you put in 100 once a year? Not necessary and you wont benefit at all from it.

i was using 93 octane from Shell because they would do "super tuesday" w/ premium for the price of regular, but they closed so I'm on 87 again until I can find another place like this but it was hte only place with 93 octane in our entire area so i'll probably be settling for 91

I use 85 octane from Conoco... I'd been using 87 since I bought the car in '02, but switched to 85 around November and there's absolutely no difference in my gas mileage. And no, my engine does not knock.

I notice that most of you don't even have 85 octane at all... it must be our elevation here in CO... ours goes 85, 87, and 91.

Used to get 93 from Mobil. Then 93 from Cumberland Farms (its like a 7-11 ...if you are from upstate NY you know Cumbie and Stewards). Now i get 89 from Cumberland Farms.
This is just my opinion/impression but my car seems to run smoother on 93. With the 89 its a tad rougher but its seems as if i have better acceleration. Also, 93 seems to last longer.
Also, I add Techron to the tank every 3k miles.

89 here

I feed my maxima 89 from either Shell or Ultramar here in montreal, if its chep enough i get 91 from shell or ultramar ( to "clean the injectors lol").I see the perfomance change if i go from 89 to 91 , but not the mileage, it goes lower i find, but that just me

I was using Sunoco 91 and found that I just wasn't getting the ooommmph and my mileage was a little suspect. I switched to Sunoco 94 and find that mileage is better and there's a little more seat of the pants feel.

I always get supra, premium or whatever name they use for the most expensive gas cuz I only drive 4000 miles a year and I don't really care how much per gallon it costs. Fair enough?

92? There's no 92 in Arizona. I am only using this car for to/from home/school, so I don't think I need a premium fuel.

they use the same engines, for the most part. moreover, nissan/infinity uses the amazing vq35de in virtually all of its 6 cylinder applications.
also, the i35 is pretty much a maxima with more manners (and an analouge dash clock).

"93 Octane, Usually Chevron or Shell, but lately it's been Costco gas because it's $1.59/ gallon ofr 93" ...sigh the good ole days.

and no i dont think it was a bad idea to being this thread back.

So far its been 91 and up, but I am considering switching to 87 or 89. Apparently new cars come with 87 prefilled at factory. Lexus comes in mind.

Depends state to state but almost anywhere in North East I can get 93 and sometimes 94 at certain gas stations. I always use atleast 93, these people using 87 are not saving any significant amount doing so, and risk damage to certain parts and sensors.

im a lil late, but what is the best gas to use on an 03 Max, 87, 89, or 91 and up? Disregard the high gas prices, I just want the best for the car.

Thanks

Top Tier Detergent Gasoline
TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is a recently established new standard for gasoline performance. Four of the world's top automakers, BMW, General Motors, Honda, and Toyota recognize that the current EPA minimum detergent requirements do not go far enough to ensure optimal engine performance.
Since the minimum additive performance standards were first established by EPA in 1995, most gasoline marketers have actually reduced the concentration level of detergent additive in their gasoline by up to 50%. As a result, the ability of a vehicle to maintain stringent Tier 2 emission standards have been hampered, leading to engine deposits which can have a big impact on in-use emissions and driver satisfaction.
These automakers have raised the bar. TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline help drivers avoid lower quality gasoline which can leave deposits on critical engine parts, which reduces engine performance. That’s something both drivers and automakers want to avoid.

TOP TIER Gasoline Retailers:
QuikTrip
Chevron
Conoco
Phillips
76
Shell
Entec Stations
MFA Oil Company
Kwik Trip/Kwik Star
The Somerset Refinery, Inc.
Chevron-Canada
Aloha Petroleum
Jiffy Mart
Mahalo
Tri-Par Oil Company

Discuss.... valid or not?

For me, I use Bp/Valero 91 and sometimes when I'm feeling generous Chevron 91. That's the highest you can get in Cali, at least in Norcal/Bay area. BTW, anyone CONSISTENTLY use fuel injector/system cleaners with every/most fill ups? I don't but wondering if they have any effect at all.
