btw. Have any of you guys used the ethanol blend in your max. They are starting to promote it heavily down here but the results I got in my nissan truck were less than satisfactory. What are your experiences if any. Cheers.

There are so many on this forum who actually think that their mpg's go up with super. The reality is they feel somehow that their cars are more important or valid if they use a more expensive gasoline. It would probably take a G35 with true duals for them to truly experience what they think they're experiencing with super in the Maxima.
I agree that up to 91 octane the Maxima has minimal gains. But as I said, I burned a lot of 93 out the tailpipe over the years, and now use stricty 87. No detriment, and my ego's not bruised in any way pumping 87.
I use 91 in my I30. I can't say that I tell a big difference between premium & regular, but thats what is recommended so I use it. I doubt there would be any noticeable gains using higher than 91.

hey i dont know about any of you on here my my maxima runs like **** on shell gas now. i used to put the vpower in my talon and it was great!!! put it in my maxima, ****!!!!
I stick with sunoco ultra 93 and mobile 93. i also used the valero gas a few time and noticed some more 'pep' in my cars performence.
BUT....anyone from the new england area, irving gas....93, lets just say go check it out for urself.

Im a big person for running enough octane. However My 95 runs just as well on 89 as it does on 92. I dont have any knock data to back this up 100%. I do notice the car is a but more sluggish at wot on 87, so I put a stop to that after trying it a few times. If I were to ever do any serious mods Im sure Id step up, especially if knock was present. As of now the car is my comfy daily driver.

The gas companies are pretty clever about what they sell though. You have to but a higher octane gas in your car than you really need. One way around it is to mix grades when fueling, but that means 2 transactions for an empty tank or fueling when half-empty and remembering what grade you last put in the car.

The ECU is maped to run 91 octane(research). Nissan does not run a duel map like the higher end cars, ie BMW, to run different octane ratings. There is no gain in running over 91 octane unless the ECU has been remapped. It's just like burning your cash

I haven't seen an Amoco station in years. Didn't BP take them over? In any case all grades and brands have to pass the same tests.
