So on my way to the beach this morning i was putting stuff in the trunk and low and behold by tail light is smashed out. I did a double take and realized i wasnt having a nightmare. When i inspected it even more i realized the bumper got crunched a little. Grr. I was SO ****ed. Take a look at the pics. Any idea how much it might cost? I dont think insurance will cover this. Good thing only the outer tail light got broken that was some good luck, as i have the read/clear tails right up in my room.

Sorry, this really sux man. I'm sure the insurance should pay for at least half of this unless your deductible is more than $500.

Looks like a tard SUV..

I've been hit by 2 SUV's, both while parked .. looks like you've become another member of the people who hate "I-drive-2-feet-above-so-I-can't-see" club..

New bumper + tail light + paint is a bit .. I'm in canada so you might have to convert .. bumper = 300, tail light = 130, paint = 200 ? .. rough guess .. That sucks man, sorry to see it.

don't worry, be happy

That really su*** that someone would just do that. But maybe on the positive note the damage is a tiny portion of the rear quarter. Because body work su*** in general, if it included say 2 doors it would look like sh** when it's done. But I think once the car is repaired it wont be that noticeable because it seems to be where the tail lamp meets the quarter.

You're probably out your deductible, but just get it fixed and you'll be happy again. We can't change the way people behave when it comes to other folks' property. Anyway, good weather for the beach this weekend, eh? Cheer up!! ;-)

You can probably check a junk yard and score a non damaged bumper for about $150 (american). Looks like some body work is going to be needed to fix where the bumper meets the body and a lil bit o paint. Since you have the tail light and if u can find a bumper at a junk yard for around $150, you might be able to keep it within 430 canadian if you can find a body shop to fix the body and paint it.

ok heres my idea. get that body kit from custommaxima that replaces the whole rear bumper instead of just a stick on piece. SO now you have a body kit AND a new bumper, you already have the tail light that's smashed. So body kit = 900ish i think and paint around 300. see what you can get from the insurance. take them for all you can get then get the body kit!!!

that does sound tempting.
How much would a new factory bumper cost from the dealer?

Thanks

So it's not that bad. I think you should stick with OEM bumper, that body kit looks fugly to me.

looks like my damage...

a couple weeks ago someone did a "hit and run" job on my max. i was ****ed, but mine is a little lower. they have to replace my bumper and right hand tail light. estimates were in the $800-$1000 range, only if i had a digi cam to show you guys. it was parked at my parents hotel(and no, i'm loaded or something, just check out my thread about getting a 4 cyl), i remember a bunch if trucks around, F-150's, silverado's, ram's, you guys know. i know it was one of them, probably hit me while backing out. damage looks nasty, but its only the top part of the bumper and tail light. i feel your pain man, sucks, i got a $500 deductable, sucks bad.
