am thinking of port polishing my intake and exhaust manifold...and being a student who lives off-campus. I can't afford not to go to school / not drive my car.
thus I came upon this idea to buy a used intake manifold and exhaust manifold from the salvage yards.
need your input and advice with my idea...is it worth it? any cons / other things I might need to consider?
all help and advice is greatly appreciated!

sure.. it's worth it if you wanna do it..
then when you get those installed, either have yours port/polished and sell 'em off, or just sell 'em to someone on the board..
maybe talk to a junkyard and ask them if you can "rent" some- you'll return yours when you get the new ones installed.. pay them a decent fee, and you're set.
(it may sound like a joke, but I've rented heads off my old mitsu while mine were in the shop for the same thing.)

How much hp are you expecting to get? I dunno if you'll feel its worth the money your spending on it. I want to extrude hone my exhaust manifolds for less turbo lag but dunno if its worth the money or not. Which shop are you gonna have do it? I have extra exhaust and intake manifolds if your interested in buying them from me. I was thinkin bout extrude honing them and selling them like that but no one was interested so that idea died.

where did you get your turbo from? how much was the install, I drive a slushbox...do you think it'd work?
about extrude hone...well, I talked to car enthusiasts...they tell me that extrude hone is basically pumping some kind of an abrasive liquid thru the manifolds...this smooths out the insides. as for port polishing, heard its a better deal cos at least you can control how deep / big / much you want to grind away vs the liquid flow.
anyways, am going to do it here in Lafayette, IN where there is a race shop with a in-house machine shop and dyno.
the only thing they don't do is the VB upgrade.
they also do mandrel bending..! am considering getting a b-pipe custom bended!
