This isn't really a Maxima question but it could be. My dad has a 1986 Jeep Cherokee with 100k on it. It has been a great car so far but the transmission fuild is leaking pretty bad. He looked at Wal-Mart and K-Mart and neither had transmission fuild but they both has this stuff you put in there to stop leaks. He got 2 bottles of that and put it in there but its still low and I was wondering if they work just as well as transmission fluid or not? We just need it to last another month as he is getting a new Pathfinder next month. We hardly drive it if any so I am really not concerned about the long run. Thanks.

Just top off the fluid...
If you cannot get tranny fluid in walmart, try a auto parts store. Buy a quart or 2 and top of the tranny. This will get you through another month.
The sealants sold in other stores will seal minor leaks. If you were keeping the car it would make sence to see where the leak was comming from and go from there. The sealants are NOT transmission fluid, they are like a "glue" that will seal/harden when they leak out and hit air.
