I start it. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I thought it was the alarm in valet mode, but it honks even more when I play with the switch..any ideas? Thanks

 

check the wiring..it could be grounding out. i think in the SC install the horn had to be relocated...then again i might be wrong..

I don't know about relocating the horn (they could have just taken the horn out??)..but after the S/C install my car doesn't have that manly honk anymore...it's more like a girly honk.

 

sounds like they took out the horn on the side of the engine.

So you got that "get out of my way.. please?" honk now? =) More like beep beep? Well, the honk sound is made with two horns actually. One horn is in the back of the grill. The other one is.. well exactly where your S/C is now. =) Its okay. You honk at them with the get out of my way please beep.. And if they don't move.. Blow there doors off.. =) Or, install an airhorn..

LOL! Yeah..it's the nice polite honk. I just don't want it to honk/beep when I start the car..It's embarrassing..just like my squeaking brakes...


What are air horns? Are they hard to install?

 

The air horns are where the stock 2nd horn is, where your s/c now is. Some guys install them in the compartment in front of the driver's side wheel well. Since you don't have a cold air intake the well is wide open. It takes a little wiring and some brackets.

bought mine from local auto shop, 35 bucks, rocks! Installed trumpets on inside of bottom engine cover right behind air dam using factory mounting bolts. No brackets, no problems except that i originally put compressor down there too and it got water logged. Relocated it to top of relay box on driver side in front of battery, works great now. Beats the S*** out of stock horn.
