END OF MY ROPE on fog bulbs
#1
I have gone through two or three sets of Hella YellowStars. These things blow pretty easy, I know part of it is due to my battery (Yellow Top), and the fact that they are rewired (so sometimes they are ON when I start the car, etc.) but it's frustrating because they are a huge pain in the bottom to install.
Does anyone recommend a good, LONG LASTING set of yellow H3 fog bulbs? I mean, like 14V ones or something that will LAST and not KEEP BLOWING every time I turn around so I have to spend an HOUR replacing them??

Phillips All-Weather Vision H3 bulbs at autooptiks.com, like Albertt and I told you last time you went through this.
They won't be REAL yellow, but they'll last.

yellow fogs
here is wha i did to achieve that "lexus" yellow look. Go to a local arts and crafts sore and purchase transparent glass spray paint. Its 5.99 a bottle and i have had no problems with chipping or peeling. The company i used was krylon. Also there was no loss in light output. Im sorry but i dont have any pics.

Like Bill said, give the Philips All-Weather/WeatherVision bulbs a shot. They come only in 55W but are supposed to be better than the stock Koito units in terms of light output. I dunno what's up with Hella...I know plenty of people that have not had problems with them...but those were with the German made H4s and H7s.
As for HIDs in your foglamps, go ahead...give that shot too, if you're comfortable with glueing the bulbs in.

I was under the impression you wanted more of a "yellow" light. If you would prefer a white light, then the PIAA H3 superwhites are the best ones to get. You can get them at carparts.com for $44 minus a 20% off coupon over at importhookup.com. The part number is 15455, and they have a 3800k lumens rating (while the white version of the Phillips bulb is only 3600k).

I do want yellow. But at this point, the most important is that they LAST. So, I'm going to get the Philips All-Weather Visions you guys recommended.

Mainei30: When installing the bulbs >>
Make sure they are clean. I can't stress this point enough. When you remove the bulbs from the packaging, make sure you don't touch the bulb glass. Even then, buy some 90% or greater rubbing alcohol and with some lint free tissue or cotton cloth, wipe the bulb glass down.
After the install, check to make sure your foglamps aren't loosely mounted. Excessive vibration also shortens the life of bulbs.
