So I was driving down the infamouse Queens Blvd (a 10 lane blvd with 2 service roads) I was heading east and made a left, went straight and then another left into the service road. I got pulled over for disobeying the sign "no u turn". It's a moving violation and 2 points on my COMPLETELY CLEAN DRIVING RECORD FOR 8 YEARS!

See attached to for visualization of how I drove. I'm entering a NOT GUILTY plea, and I'm hoping that they'll make it into a non-moving violation.

Thanks for listening!

Tough one.
You can plea not guilt, pray the doesn't show.
Or if they are nice, plea it down to a non-moving violation like not wearing a seat belt.

I would look for a plea. It certainly looks like a U turn to me.

If the service road has a different name than the road, or if there are businesses / houses, you ***MAY*** have a leg to stand on.

I don't think that was a U-turn either!!! How the heck are you supposed to gain access to that service road if you did not do what you did. U-Turn would be to turn on the three lanes that are not the access road lanes right?

All the best dude!

"U-Turn would be to turn on the three lanes that are not the access road lanes right? "

Thats what I'm saying!

Honestly, I was on my way to Pearl Vision (which is on the service road) to pick up my contact lenses.
I could say that I didn't see the No Uturn sign, and show them the reciept for the contact lenses that I got 10 minutes after I got the ticket. Would that sound too hoaky?
But it's the truth! Whatever the case, I'm not just going to bend ova and take it!

You can't say that. Since you have to wear contact lenses or glasses there is a restriction on your license. So if you did not have the contacts or glasses on then you will be doing one more violation. So don't even think about that. All you can say is that I thought that U turn was to turn on the three regular lanes. I mean there has got to be a way to access those other lanes and the way you did it is the only way to access them.

I really only need one contact for my right eye. My left one is perfect 20/20

But yeah, I guess it sounds bad to even bring that up.

I don't think it was a U either.....

but find out from another cop or somebody to make sure...if it truly is considered a U-turn. and if it is(and you in fact were wrong) wouldn't it be wise to plead guilty w/ an explanation ( I guess you could say "I didn't think I was making a U-turn..." blah, blah) and then use the example of your current clean record as means to prevent the points from reaching your record! that should work...just my $.02

fight it .. if you have been driving for 8 years with a clean record you have a good chance of getting it reduced to a lesser no point violation .... if you're having doubts get a lawyer.. paying the laywer is better then paying the insurance company .. but i'm in NJ so things might be different for me
