just dyno'd the old max.

what i have installed is a PR CAI
Budget Exhaust Y-Pipe
Hi Flow Cat
Cat Back exhaust/Muffler
AUTOMATIC/ 18 inch rims

Before i put the exhaust on I ran a 156.1 HP and 172.2 lbs/TQ

today i ran a 171.6 HP and 180.3 lbs/TQ

so the increase was about 15 horsepower and 9 lbs of torque. the increase was in the entire HP range, but the biggest being from 4500 rpm to 6000. so theres the numbers on a $200 shipped y-pipe. Just buy the thing. it works.

Cant wait to put my Y on!

That 4500 to 6000 band is where I need improvement most. The CAI just seems to lose pep up there. I don't have the Catbak and muffler, so my HP numbers won't be as good as yours when all is said and done.

Yep,

The budget exhaust y-pipe is pretty good, I had mine installed about 8 months ago. It was the first power mod I did and I was really impressed with the difference. Mine had a bit of a hiss to it, but I wasn't complaining when I spun the tires going 90km/h (in the rain mind you ) on the way home .. For the price they charge I'd have to say it'd be good competition, but the name 'budget exhaust' seems to make people think they're getting a cheap POS heh.

Are you going to post the dyno?

Also was the dyno from just the Y-pipe? Or did that also include your catback exhaust and muffler?

Thank you breaux! That's the exact same question I was going to ask. Please answer that bags. Also, can you comment on the sound increase? Thanks so much.

he said what he had on his car, but he said: "Before i put the exhaust on I ran a 156.1 HP and 172.2 lbs/TQ "

So does that mean the only differences in the dyno was the Y-pipe? Or the entire exhaust (Y-pipe and catback?). Maybe you can read some invisible words that I don't see?

Yup, so before you embarrass yourself in the future gumby, think twice before posting comments that attack other people.
Anyway, bags, when you get a chance, we're still dying to know if all the gain was solely from the 'y' or the 'y' and catback combo... Thanks.

I installed my budget y pipe three days before maxus ,it fit like a glove my self & a friend installed it . The pipe is quiet as I am running stock muffler & i wrapped the flex section to avoid being annoyed with hissing sounds ;to this day I don't know if this pipe hiss's or not best $195 I spent
iT'S good to know that the gains were not just in my mind.
Shout Out to DUPLEX whom I meet a maxus, who started the thread in the group deals section .

WOW !!!!!

i did not know i was this popular!! sorry if there was any confusion, i did not mean to confuse anyone. i will explian and answer questions. BTW that's why this board is here, to inform

PTATOHED, yes there was a noise increase. but i pu in a hi-flow cat and a 2 1/2 inch b-pipe and after market muffler with a 2 3/4 tip. the y-pipe has a SMALL hiss , i can only hear it at idle if i am standing next to the driver door.

BREAUX124, i did the first dyno run with a CAI. the second dyno run was with the y-pipe and CAT and b-pipe and muffler installed. I do not have enough money to dyno each part..lol

IRONLORD, yes i think it's stainless. it was painted flat black from budget. but it was SOLID in construction

BLACK019, www.budgetexhaust.com it costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $200. the amount depends on the money exchange rate. it changes everyday.

MZMTG, it's a custom muffler/exhaust place in canada. they do good work. if you have any questions about it email me.

if there are anymore questions just ask.. i use this web site to gain info so i will provide what info the brain housing group has.

It seems that the Y pipe and the F pipe are interchangable. If you look at thier exhaust page the same table row is used for Y and F pipes.

FINALLY A CANAIDIAN PERFORMANCE SHOP!!!! TABARNAQUE!!!! WAY TO GO HOSTIE!!!!

Y = F = downpipe

it's called a y-pipe to you and i. but it looks like an F. so it is an f-pipe. so yes the f-pipe is what i put on. its all a down pipe no matter what letter you use

I had it done at winchester colision in 'sauga .. Cost me 450 + 2 hours install. The 450 was for sides/back, I got the front done free because I had the entire front bumper repainted due to an accident, so they included the front costs in the insurance. Not a great price, my friend works at an auto colision place and has great hookups for painting, If you need a place I might be able to hook you up. They quoted me $350 flat for hood/trunk & spoiler (dealership wanted $650)..

Ereet ... when u said yours came bent ... bent in half?

do u think that if I get it prepainted & shipped bent that the paint would get screwed up?

Whoa

Ereet you haven't got your VB mod yet? Damn that is taking a while! Any new "experiences" with racing the five oh? We all gotta hook up at the end of the summer/fall since most of our cars will have some new additions since we last met. And this time we can probably get a bigger turn out if we do it right. What do u guys think?

So breaux and I were right. That's kind of a bummer though. We still don't know what the y-pipe contributed to the 15 horsepower increase and what the catback contributed. :( Was it 7.5/7.5, 10/5, 15/0, 0/15, etc., etc.?! Oh well. :I Thanks though Bags!
