What is their purpose? Is it just to reduce noise? I know they supply air to the hoses to the v/cs' but do they serve another purpose? I want to know if I remove it will it increase volume? Also if I was to put some sort of filter set up to the v/cs', will that be adequate for the v/cs' needs?

Place Racing and Cattman both sell an upper intake tube that runs from the TB to the MAF, it is the upper tube from the CAI kits they sell. I ordered a Cattman upper tube on thursday, should arrive on tues or wed. I want to get rid of the stock resonator because its just plain ugly, and the intake should sound a little more throaty, I doubt it will add any power...I'll let you know how it turns out...

I believe the hose you are pointing out is just a v/c breather hose! no vacuum, just air.

I would appreciate the update, thanks! No it won't add any gains other than one less eye sore. Let's hope it sounds nice.
