I think I have all the major things fixed on the motor. This weekend I repaired the rear main seal and the oil leak has stopped! The clutch had a little oil on it, I cleaned it with break parts cleaner that said it was safe for clutches. This may work, if not I will be doing a clutch job in a few thousand miles. I will take it easy on the clutch for ~500 miles or so and see after that.

As most of you know the history of the motor that I have is unclear. I am certain it was rebuilt, all the compression ratios 205-212psi and lets not forget the assebly lube. I changed the oil this weekend, ~170miles, and it was black from the assembly lube. With this in mind I am treating it like a brand new rebuild and will not do and racing etc until it has at least ~2500 mile on it.

The next phase of the project will be to take it to a dyno and get the A/F ratios checked and tuned. Mabye an AFC? I'll do this after it s broken in. Then I'll look at adding a little nitrous and/or an intercooler and smaller pulley.

I'm glad to have all the major work done "knocks on wood". Its rewarding to do these kinds of thinks your self, but their comes a point when they start to take control of your life. I'm looking forward to a few months of just washing and waxing the Max and enjoying the boost.

Congrats man!!! We all knew you could do it!!

Must be rewarding to see all that hardwork paying off!

Do you notice an improvement in performance even though are not pushing the car??

Now your biggest challenge is not going at WOT for the first 2500mi!

Congratulations!

But I wouldnt even bother trying that clutch after it's been soaked in oil...I tried that once & it slipped immediately...Cleaned the hell out of it... Was doing anything to save my $600 clutch... Once the oil soaks into the fibers of the disk, its shot.
I reccomend the Centerforce Dual Friction...
It held my S/C with 3.25" pulley & never slipped...
And it feels like stock...
Not bad for a clutch that's under $250 shipped...

Good Luck.

It wasnt really "soaked", just a little resedue on the outer pad area. The bell housing was not realy oily either. The back of the fly wheel was the worst. I blew out a trans seal on my old car and "soaked" the DF disk I had in that car with trans fluid. That was a waste. But I hope this works out, its a DF too.

Matt, you need to give me a ride to see how the beast feels like.

Btw, my VB should come in this weekend. Keith might be busy, so I'm not sure if he can help me. If he's busy, you think you could help me out? I got the instruction, so it shouldn't be too hard.

E-mail me the instructions if you can. I might be able to do it. The wifey wants to do a few things this weekend, so well have to play it by ear.

If not this weekend, perhaps one night during next weeek.

Did you get some new ATF yet?

Yes, I bought some Valvoline ATF. Yeah, if we can't do it this weekend, we can do it next weekend. So what if I make Don wait awhile for me to send him the core back, he made me waited this long.

Mobil makes a synthetic ATF now, you may want to use that. As for making Don wait?

yeah...don't forget time! skill and brass is nothing if you have to get the car running in 2 days to get to work.

BS, if you return it to him late and he holds your $ your credit card company will take care of it for you once you write a letter and detail the customer service issue on the front of the deal, thats a gaaaarrrrrooonnnnnttttteeeee!!! Credit card companies are mean.

I think I rather not go through any trouble, so hopefully I can the VB done as soon as I can. It's still not certain that the VB will come to me. Even though he said I should get it this weekend, he said the same thing last week too. So, until I see it, then I'll believe it. If I knew it would take this long, I would have send my VB to him directly instead of waiting for the core. Oh well, I learned my lesson.

When you bought the VB, you agreed to return it within X number of days or you'll be charged the core charge.

Trust me, credit card companies are going to get the money back for their customer. Perhaps if the card wasnt charged until the product was shipped from the manufacturer it might not look so bad.
