Ideas on a miniscule ticket/citation?
#1
I was having one of those "record worst days" yesterday...I left my house at 7:45AM and got home from work/night class at 9:00PM...went to make some dinner and burnt it in the oven...went out to catch some fast food, and bam. Ran into a brigade of cops running a mass stopping point under the guise of a "Vehicle Registration Checkpoint". Of course, they didn't even bat an eye at the old lady in a Subaru ahead of me, but being that I look young, they had me stop along with the masses of teenagers...
Anyways, after much ********-feeling (for what?), they gave me a citation for my tints. The officers were state troopers...they gave me a fix-it type citation, along with a written citation/complaint that looks liek a normal ticket. They allowed me a waiver, and the officer said I could just send it in with the $48 fine. I asked him if this would count as any points on my license, and he said he didn't think so. I just got a tint violation on my last car in March, but that time, I got caught by the local police department, and they gave me a moving violation ticket and not a "citation." For that ticket, my insurance company said it would count against my record (I ended up taking the tint off and getting it dismissed).
Basically, I want to know what you guys think about me getting out of this with no points added and with my tint still in tact. A few things I noticed: the officers didn't show me the reading on the tester, spelled both my first & last name wrong on the citation (but got my VIN and license #s), cited a stature # for the window tint violation on the citation, and issued a court date. Being that these are state troopers, I think there'd be a decent chance if I went to the court date, they wouldn't show up.
What do you guys think? Gonna ask one of the attorneys here at work as well. Sorry for the length of the post.
