6.7?
That's a magazine tested time for the 5-spd. You have the automatic...surely you know that automatics are slower(from ~0.5 to ~1.0 seconds slower). Time to mod up...SC, y-pipe, cai, blah, blah...we need a FAQ.
What kind of cars were you exaclty racing? I don't have trouble beating MAJORITY of cars i race. The 0-60 in 6.7 secs is for the 2k max in stick. The autos are rated anywehere from 7.5-8.5 up to 60. It just depends on how well you can drive it.
Ok I have a 96 SE auto, and i haven't had any problems with it being to slow. When stock I took it to an 1/8 mile track and my best time was 10.08 at about 72mph. I put it in in low 1 then upshift to low 2 right at redline then do the same into drive. I raced a stock 95 SE 5spd once and I wanted to see if I could hang with him since he was suppose to beat me by 1 sec. I ended up white smoking my tires all the way through first gear, and we did not get a chance to line it up again. Anyway, Does anyone have any stock 1/8 mile times they can post to compare different years and auto's to 5spd's??????????

is there a special way to work the gas or to time the shifts to get the fastest 0-60 with an automatic?

You shouldn't have got the automatic!
Although, the automatic isn't as slow as some of the other automatics on other cars. Just in case for anyone who think about getting a Maxima, get the 5spd.! I continue to regret having an automatic.
