Carbon Fiber hood
I am not sure about the cams, but the Carbon Fiber hood should be available now. Check out cheston's page he has some info on it. http://www.maximadriver.com
Question is......
How hard would it be for someone to install these 4 cams? I don't think a do-it-yourselfer could pull it off. Do we really the cams could wake up topend hp? I thought the major restriction in the 4th gen VQ was it's long intake runners which aren't good for topend power.

defently a huge job to do camshafts, all data shows 16 hours to do both banks. looking at over a grand in just labor depending on shops labor rate. so roughly 2grand for camshafts and install, would defently want to see what the added horse power would be before getting into something like that.

SIXTEEN HOURS to do cams?
I can swap cams in an SR20DE in under 2 hours.... VQ30DE had better not take EIGHT times that amount.
Hell, experienced SR20DE gurus can swap cams in under an hour.
I know the SR20DE is much more simple, but I don't think a cam swap would be 8x more simple. :-p
Also, I'm not holding my breath for cams...

Carbon Fiber hoods safe?
I've been thinking about the safety of carbon fiber hoods. I know when I watch auto racing, cf shatters apart and is supposed to disperse the energy. However cf can be designed to do anything, in fact it can be designed to stay in one piece despite high impact stress, ie carbon fiber pods in which the driver sits in.
My question is this, how can we be certain that if in a headon collision, the cf hood doesn't become one huge guillotine that will slide into the passenger compartment? (A very bad thing to happen) Also, cars are meant to crumple to disperse the energy before it hits the people inside. Will the lack of the hood cause more sever problems?
I'm not looking for an answer but what do others think?
