I will say it was sad, but this guy tried.
Going up I-95 about 80mph, left lane. Come up on a new '00-'01 Taurus SE (temp tags and all) in font of me. I do the pull up on his butt and back off to see if he will move over. (I'll give them a chance before being a complete ****). He looks in his mirror, waves at me (like "bye bye") and obviously tries to floor it becuase he started pulling away from me. I thought WTF? But I was happy that he was moving faster. So I press the gas to 2/3 and keep up with him...he pushes 90, then 100. At this point I am starting to think that this guy was actually trying to show me somehting. So I gun it WOT, and pull right up to his *** at 110. HE CAN'T SEEM TO GO ANY FASTER than this (I'm assuming a limiter of some sort)...so I back off, and pull up his butt about 3 more times to prove a point and see if he will move over after this embarrasing moment for him. He doesn't! So I move to the open lane, pass him with ease. I make it a point to cut him off, wave at him like he waved to me, and pulled away until he was about a 1/2 mile behind me. I'm sure dude went the rest of his trip wishing he had bought a Maxima instead of his Taurus. But is this a "kill" considering that I think he hit the speed limiter on his car?

ROFLMFAO...that's hilarious
I know because my previous car was a POS 97 Taurus GL, with a good ol' 3 liter Vulcan V6 - 145hp and 170lb-ft. That SE has maybe 5-10more hp but that's it. They're pathetically slow.

personally...

...I think it IS a kill. It's not like the guy had his lane blocked at a certain point by other traffic or something. It sounds like it was a clean contest.

THIS may not sound like a kill, but I love it when say, a guy in a similar situation as you describe, has his girlfriend or wife with him and you just know that you get to a certain point and HE backs down because the Missus tells/yells him to. I consider that a double kill. well, either way the fella's got more than JUST me
to stew about!!!!!!..and he will be frothing that much more the next time he's out alone.
sadistic? yessssssssss!!!!!!

The "Miss-Kill"...

Could also be called a *****-slap, no? (Did I say that?)
Hell, my soon-to-be-ex-wife freaks when I went 70...Ironically I have a clean driving record, and she has strikes against her for speeding.

I had a '90 Taurus GL w/ the v-6 Triton in it too. Got killed by my (then) neighbor's '96 Altima...Pretty damn sad. That and the 3 transmissions that I replaced in the course of 4-5 months. That's actually what prompted me to buy my Maxima.

Some of the new Taurus's come with a 200 hp V6 and get to 60 in like 8 seconds. That will beat some stock auto max's.
I ran one from 50-80 and it was even...at 80 I started to pull ahead. But midrange up in second gear it was close. Some of you guys kill me with how fast you think the max is. A five speed is quick, yes but stock auto's are pretty even with v6 camrys, v6 accords etc. To think a 200hp taurus against a stock auto max is easy kill...not by much.

LeoB, you're mean! I like it. I have to agree though, it IS a kill. Not that he could but even if he did keep up to 110 with you and hit a limiter the point is that his car lost because it couldn't go any faster and that's fair racing. BTW- I thought SE Duratechs had closer to 200hp. Yes, no, maybe so? Don't matter, they still suck- good kill anyway.

I'm not saying my car is the fastest thing w/ 4-doors. I know for a fact that there are a handful of similar cars that can take me, and I won't pretend otherwise. I've had no problem, however, running against the Hondas ('99 - V-6 5sp, my co-worker has one), and a '99 ES-300 (my other co-worker)...Now in my case, with this Taurus, we were already cruising at highway speeds. Advantage, me. Perhaps, it would have been more of a challenge if we started from a stop, but we would have eventually reached his limiter at some point. Pulling on him while he was stuck at ~110 was no problem at all...though it would have had a much greater effect if I was pulling away in something like a Viper.

There is no such car as a 99 honda accord v6 with a 5 speed. They are auto only. That makes a 5 speed an easy kill!
