Maxima.org downtime -- YOU pick the time!
#1
Our new dedicated server is 90% ready for us to use now. All of the files have been imported to the new site and it really screams. However, the forums are the last item to be moved over, largely because everyone's using them!
So, I'm throwing this out to you, the participants in the forums -- when would YOU like the move to take place?
The move will take me about a day to ensure that everything's running correctly, that all of the data is in tact, etc. That'll give us time to check things out and make sure the system is running in tip-top shape before we open it back up.
What day is good for you all?
P.S. -- Don't ever say I'm not accomodating.

Jambo, thanks for being so accommodating. However, I say just pick a day, announce it a week in advance, and then just do it. Weekday, weekend, it doesn't matter. After all, when it's done, we'll be lightening fast so that's worth it.

I Second this...!!!
Thanks for wanting to be accommodating, but for this you should just take charge and JUST DO IT..!!!

What about this Sunday?
Take it down like late Saturday night like 12pm-2am Sunday morning. Everybody will be at a meet on Sunday or watching football NFL!

I'd have to agree with most of whom that responded to this thread, Sunday morning is ideal.

Oh, and in case you can't figure out how to 'click the link'
The Maxima.org site will be down on Sunday, September 16th from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. for a server upgrade. There will only be sporadic accessibility during this time. All forums will be offline during the outage.
In addition, the new server requires a DNS change, so access to the site may be inconsistent at times as the domain name is re-pointed to the new server. Please be aware of this change.
We thank you for your patience and hope that you will enjoy the new performance of this server.
