hmmmm

235/40/18

defined like this:

width of tire (flat surface that touches the ground) / sidewall height (40 size would be "thinner" then a 45 size) / Diameter of rim.

The sizes are usually matched like this:

stock SE 4th gen rim is 6.5" wide, factory tire is = 215/.../...
Stock 17" SE 2k rim is 7.0" wide, factory tire is = 225/.../...

They usually go up in 10 pts. though the proper size for a 8" wide rim is 235.. although a 245 will fit.... they vary a little bit in width.. people put 225 wide tires on 6.5" SE rims all the time. They fit normally.

The 1st # is the tire width, which should NOT affect overall turning diameter.. it might feel different or slower because the surface area is slightly bigger... it's all physics and crap.. anyways, only the middle # and the last # affect the turning diameter which will throw off the speedometer readings if it's bigger then stock... if they are matched up wrong, then the reading would be off..
