Neon Underbody kit install write-up
well...here is the write up...i do not any responsiblity if ANYTHING goes WRONG!!!!
Low Glow Underbody Neon Kit Install:
Step 1:
Make sure all the parts are there.
Step 2:
Open up the hood and find a place put the transformer. I currently have the Place Racing Cold Air Intake installed on my 1998 Maxima. There is some open space where the stock airbox was. I mounted the transformer to the side like right next to the fuse box. To mount it, I used sand paper to clear away the paint so the ground would connect really well. Then I drilled 2 holes and screwed the transformer into
place.
Step 3:
Jack up the car really high. Then look for a place to mount the side tubes. Basically your going to have to drill into that gritty metal stuff. You make 3 holes for both sides. For the front and rear, you make 2 holes in front and 2 holes in rear. After you mount both sides, proceed to mount the rear.
Step 4:
To mount the rear, find a safe place to put the neon tube. Since I have the Stillen Exhaust and didn't want the neon tube to be fried, I ziptied the tubes to the metal frame that was way above the exhaust( looks crappy at night, but safe ).
Step 5:
Mounting the front was really easy. You can either drill holes into the plastic shield that covers the front up from gravel and dirt, or else you can put them inside of the holes.
Step 6:
Wiring was a lot of work. You need wire cutters and crimps and some extra wiring. First I cut the wires on the tubes shorter so that they wouldn't lag and catch the ground cause they give you a lot of leway for cutting. When connecting 2 wires, make sure you put the clear insulator on one wire and then crimp the wires together and then slide the insulator over the crimped part. You repeat this for all the wires.
Step 7:
Connect the power supply to the transformer and see if it turns on. If it turns on then you're ready for the next step. If it doesn't turn on, make sure all your connections are secure.
Step 8:
Finding the firewall wasn't that fun. I had to call my friend for this( dammit ). Aight, getting the wiring from the engine bay to inside the car really sucked. I wish I had a digital camera to show you guys. Well, here goes. On the drivers side front wheel well, take off the cover. While the hood is open there is a small hole that I used to put the wires through, I had to make the hole bigger by drilling into it. You can run the wires from there and then there will be a hole in the wheel well, where wires are running through, run the wires through there into the inside of the car.
Step 9:
Find a place to mount the toggle switch( I suggest getting a new toggle switch since the one that the kit comes with really sucks, the connections are really bad). You should be all done. Now to finish off ziptie all the wires to something close but not moving so they don't show while driving.
Step 10:
Turn on the toggle switch! That should be it, If you have any questions or problems leave me a PM on forums.maxima.org, my handle is Llfe.
