Had a little chat with the police this AM

On my way to work. 2 lanes lead to a traffic light. Left lane goes straight on. Right lane has an immediate right after the light, but most traffic is in the right lane for a right fork up ahead. I almost always stay in the left lane and shoot ahead past as many of the cars as possible, then move over to the right lane for the right fork. Did that this morning and as I move over I see the flashing lights in my rearview. Damn. I just collected a ticket for $163 last Tuesday. [That right foot of mine is just too heavy] Well, he’s about 4 or 5 cars back in an unmarked. I must have blown past him. But my detector didn’t beep. Anyway, I hang the next right and duck into a parking lot, hoping to loose him. No luck. Well he sits there and I can see he calls for back-up. A marked car pulls up and they talk, laugh. I’m thinking I’m totally screwed now. Then he comes up and asks if I know why he pulled me over. "No Officer." "Well, you were going at least 40 [but with no radar he doesn’t have any hard evidence] and you went past all those cars and cut into traffic." "But officer, the road isn’t marked against that, I used my signals and I waited for a gap in the traffic to move over. I didn’t even make anybody have to use their brakes." "Well, it was bordering on wreckless driving." [yeah, well, I didn’t have a wreck, did I?] End of story is that he says he doesn’t know why, but he isn’t going to give me a ticket. Truth is, he didn’t have me for speeding and I hadn’t really done anything else wrong. I almost wanted to kiss him. I did not peel out as I left…

yeah, learned my lesson about that.
Got a bullsh!t tkt about a year and a half ago.
Cops leaving and I say "Have a wonderful day"
but my tone makes it obvious I mean the opposite.
He whips around - "What did you say?"
"Have a wonderful day".
Stony silence.
He was a real ***** in court
[but I beat that one - the ticket, not the cop].
So now, I'm always polite.
All the cursing is in my head.

Guess I'm lucky.
FOP badge and lodge member card.
Been stopped about five or six times, but I've never received anything but warnings.

My dad is a retired officer that's how I have the FOP items.

Who's your daddy?

Actually if any of your family members are in any type of law enforcement they should be able to get you FOP cards or badges.

It just helps out when I say that I got it from my dad who is retired, cause then it's professional courtesy to let me go. One officer told me, that he didn't want to bust the son of a cop, but make sure I slow it down - cause not everyone is going to be this nice.

This was when I was doing 69 in a 45
I drove the speed limit for the next three weeks.

yeah, good question Nick.
I passed a BMW on my way to work this morning.
His left rear window had at least 6 or 7 stickers for various police support orgs, and I was wondering if it helped him any.
Seemed to me a bit overkill though, like it could backfire on him.
Cop pulls him over, sees all the stickers and thinks, "Scumbag in a beemer with lots o cash. thinks he can buy his way out. I'll learn him."
And with that many, it just seemed like he was planning to speed.

Show a little respect and kindness, and they will most likely do the same. Not that hard to do. Behave like a punk and they are going to jack you up, and hard.

last april i had my car registered in florida for the cheaper insurance and no inspection and cool custom plates.. but anyways i come home for the summer with florida plates and got pulled over on like 8 occasions.. usually around 2 in the morning.. always the same thing:

off: license and registration please
me: what did i do wrong sir?
off: you have white lights in your blinkers, and i see no inspection sticker on your windshield, thats a lot going wrong for you
me: probably would be wrong if i was registered in NJ, but i am a florida resident, no inspection...
some silence .....
off: well i will go check your record and make sure there are no warrants out for you
me: knock yourself out sir, you'll find nothing.

this happened almost exactly the same way 4-5 times in different towns.. never did i suck up to em.. hah, but when i get pulled over for doing something wrong.. then i suck I SUCK HARD.. hah, kidding

simple explanation for your ticket:
cops have monthly ticket quotas, it the end of the month, they are desperate to meet their numbers, they give tickets for anything, my friend had this happen to him wednesday, and it happened to me once as well, so one final comment:
don't speed at the end of the month!

well I raced a off dutie cop tonight and went thru a red light and past two cars in a school zone Well I was polite when I got pulled over but they still told me to shut up when I tryed to talk then searched my car and then gave me a ticket for wreckless driving!! well I told them off and the cops like I have a new book of tickets with your name on it. I let them here my exhaust system while leaving and when the cop got behind me again I went about 15mph under the speed limit. That stupid off dutie cop started it! Do I need a lawyer for court What happens usely with wreckless drivin cases sorry this is my first

In my experience it's best to always be cool with the po-po's. They very well could've given you a reckless driving ticket or violated you on other B.S. infractions. Of course they would be forced to miss a day off to come to court to fight the stupid ticket, but you should never give them a reason to f with you... unless you have good health insurance, don't mind using rapid transit, or have some cousins in Chino you feel like spending some quality time with.

Last time I checked you can't get ticketed by an off duty officer. If he instigated the race I'd say that's entrapment, but it's your word vs. his, so you might not get anywhere.

the end of the month quota for a cop is not the truth... they do have to meet a certain quota but at least in NJ, VA, CA, AZ, FL, MD where i have lived and known cops it is on a 3-6 month period.. they like the nab people at the end of the month because they receive pay checks and the more the marrier if you know what i mean.
