I've been looking at getting a portable battery booster just incase I get stranded somewhere. All the ones I saw at Sears, Walmart, and online either doesn't specify or has only like 220 cranking amps, kinda weak aint it? Anyone has one and how do you like it?

 

are you talking about the things that you can jumpstart your own car w/"Jumper packs"....if so.....these things f ukin rock.....i love them....

 

Yes the device that can jumpstart your car. What brand did you get and for how much? Is it easy to start the car with it compare to the traditional way? Also how often do you need to recharge it? Thanks!

 

the one I have has a little test button on it so you know when to jump it...

price..all depends on what you have on it.....the one my dad has...has a power inverter....cigarette lighter plug in...and a bunch of other stuff....

for the most part I think they are all about the same....

And yes they are just as easy as the traditional way..if not easier..

plus you don't have to wait..or go through the hassle/embarassment of getting some help

just pop the hood..hook up the cables and turn the key...and badda bing....your all set......

You read my mind. This is the exact thing i want to use the battery booster for, plus of course whenever I forget to turn the headlights off At $30 a pop from the tow guy it only takes 3-4 times before the booster pay for itself.

The're great! I work for the company who manufactures the "Booster Pac" brand. They contain either one or two 17 amp hour sealed lead/acid batteries. All have a cig plug too power any 12 volt accesory. A row of led's to show state of charge. Cables to connect to your car (be safe and make the last ground connection to a grounded bracket away from the battery to avoid any sparks by the battery). We have one with an inverter which has 120 volt AC receptacle. Will power (3) 100 watt bulbs or equal. Usually come with 1 amp charger, could take two days to recharge from dead. Or plug into car cig lighter plug and recharge while driving.

Curt if you could find out the prices and possibly specs for me that'd be great. Tony, I couldn't find any at JcWhitney web site for $69. The closest one is $79, it's the red one with 300 cranking amps?

I like the ones with an on/off switch. The ones without can cause a spark when you connect it to the battery. This can be dangerous.

 

I will have to take a look when I get home. It's not top of the line but it cost me about $130. It has definitely served its purpose. Toyota Truck

 

When my factory battery finally died. The tow truck wasn't allowed in our garage so they just brought that down to give me a jump.. I asked the guy about it and he said he really liked.
