Sponsered?
basically..
In a nutshell.. you do a lot of work on your car, make it look good all around then you call, email, and write companies you have interest in and ask them to sponsor you.. once i get rims, i am gonna start the sponsor calling..

They'll sponsor Maximas too. Some of my sponsors deal primarily with Hondas, but anything is possible.

what to do to accelerate a sponsorship.. spend a lot of money into the car making it really nice and having it turn heads and stand out.. and show your car at car shows and talk to vendors.. bring pictures of your car if you go up to them.. lots of things to do.. talk to people who are sponsored.. shadow knows.. 1 or 2 things.. heh
It varies from company; some require a permanent sticker others only require it at the event. Most sponsorships aren't really worth it since they only give a small discount. Don't expect many freebies unless you're a big name in the drag scene, car show, or whatever event you do.
It's getting harder and harder to get sponsored these days. Too much fraud, and too many people wanting freebies. If you don't know people, the sponsorship deals offered are pretty lousy. I get better deals and more free stuff from friends in the industry than I do on sponsorships.

Very nice!
Yeah, the car used to be green. I don't really know the normal price for all the work, got hooked up on it. But my friend told me that normally he'd charge $6K for all the paint and bodywork. It was there for 5 weeks. Plus another $1K for the Sarona kit.

I don't know much about drag racing sponsorship, but for car shows...
If you are trying to get sponsorship for free stuff, then you are doing it for a wrong reason. The company will see right through you and you won't get the sponsorship. Most people get sponsorships for one reason. To get their car into vendor/company booth for big shows like Nopi, Hot Import nights or NIRA. It will be much easier for you to get into magazines if you are tied to a vendor/company. After you get your car into the vendor booth, you get to chat with the company rep. This is when you can work in getting free stuff or discount parts. If you are sponsored, you are obligated to go to car shows. That's alot of committment. For large car shows, you have to get there a day in advance. So you will have time prep your car and get to the event on time. Hotel costs, food and travel time all adds up.

Couldn't have explained it better myself. My girlfriend who drives an Integra is in discussion with AEM right now and all they ask her is "will your car be at SEMA?"
All I can say is make friends in the industry. Once you know people, this stuff gets much easier. Cold calling a company is a very long shot. If you don't have friends in the industry, then your car better have like $20K into it before sponsors want a piece. Nobody wants to take a chance on near stock cars. I know some companies that sponsored stock cars and then those cars became magazine featured rides, but it's rare. The company I run, AP-Signworks won't even consider sponsoring a car unless it's above a certain standard.
