Is it possible...
to use an 1156 bulb instead of an 1157 bulb? I bought new bulbs for my parking lamp (the one next to the headlight) and it still is pretty dim and I dont know how to rewire it to stay on the brighter filament. does anyone know if i will work if I use a diff bulb?

the prongs on a 1156 and 1157 are different. try to fit a bulb in and see if it fits. also, you shoud know this, but 1156 is single filament while 1157 is dual filament...you can prolly rig something up but why bother? get a high wattage 1156?
ive noticed that the 1157 bulbs have two prongs and 1156 have only one. I really want the corner lights to be much brighter but they are 1157. I dont really want to just try and put an 1156 bulb in because of whatever adverse effects it could possibly have...
people file off on of the nimble of the 1157
This way the bulbs will use the dual filament and put out 27 watts in lieu of 8 watts the one filament uses. The 1157 bulbs are 8/27 and the 1156 just 27 watts. So pretty your 1157 will be the same as the 1156. I still have to do this modification, but I've had a bunch of problems getting the clearance lense out. I tried just the bulb, but I can't figure it out.
You would have to cut one of the small nipples off of the the 1157 so it would fit into your housing. Your car should have the same harness as the 97-99 Max if I am correct. Mine are nice and bright now thanks to DMB and AndyXXL. There should be a write up somewhere if you search.
