Civics and eclipses can do it. So can many others. Why can't we ? MedicSonic once said it is impossible for a Maxima to break into the 10's. Why ?? What about 11's ?

I belive her name is Lisa Kubo...she broke into the 9's (was it ?) with a civic.

I know alot of rebuilding would have to be done, but if their sh!tty little 4-banger engines can do it, why can't a high quality VQ V-6 maxima engine do it !?!?

Have you seen a 9-10 sec Honda? It's strictly a track only car. Not a daily driver. They are also much/much lighter. It's alot easier to build hp than to strip weight off of a maxima. Also would you really want to hack an expensive maxima to try to get the weight down to a decent #?

Also FWDs are inherently harder to launch, making the weight thing even more important.

Honda 4-bangers are not ****ty. Do to their good head design, they make alot of hp per psi boost on turbos/nos or sc.

Let's say Lisa Kubo is running 10's in her 2000lb civic. Let's say she has about 350hp or so. In a 3300lb maxima, you would have to have over 450hp or 550hp to do the same. Plus the most freaky lsd you can find.

From what i've seen and what i've been in i think 11's are highly obtainable. For 10's and 9's to come I'm with Jeff on the weight thing. The max would have to be highly stripped down and striclty a track car...

highly attainable. it's gonna take a lot of work i don't even think don's new engine will get a 10. he will be the only max is 11's with A LOT OF WORK. and it's a garage queen.

I thought the 95 max's weighed about 2900-3000 lbs. True Jeff, I wouldn't do that to my max, but I know some fanatic somewhere would be willing to strip down a max and make it a project car. (coughcough, Don,) They could change the drivechain of the Maxima and make it AWD or RWD, but that would be very very expensive and impracticle ( I know)...


...I understand what your sayin' about those lil' honda's, but it would be so inspiring to see a maxima run 10's...

...Could cars like vettes, stang cobra's, maxima's ect run 9's ?

Yes they do all the time. They have a huge aftermarket support for heads, cranks, rods, pistons, cams, turbos, sc, nitrous, suspensions, body parts etc.........
Add to the list Supras and Buick Grand Nationals. The GNs are one of the few cars that I know of that can go 10s and still look pretty much like another GN out there(once the slicks are off) Full interior, ac etc.. Just ignore the roll cage required once you get into the 11's or something like that.

oh yeah and by highly attainable i didn't mean that tons of people will be hitting 11's. i think the don's, steve's, phil's, matt's etc will eventually get there with there hard work...

i couldn't drive an M3 everyday, it would be a great weekend summer car but it's kinda small, dash is cheap and idiotically constructed and a lot of the used ones are beat like a porno star's vag.
