Rims question
Rims question
okay i just got my rims in the mail today and i was planning on putting them on tonite. is there anything i should know before i attempt to do this? will i need to get my car aligned? any input would be great. thanks.
are they already mounted on tires?
if not .. a shop might need to do them
you don't need an alighment.. if you have them on tires already.. you might need hub rings?? not sure.. are they already balanced?
if all is good it will be like changing a flat tire.. 4 times

well, tires are already mounted on them and they were on someones car before so they should be balanced. i was just wondering if there was going to be anything I should be aware of. what is a hub ring or whatever was mentioned earlier? never heard of that before...
some wheels come with a hub-centric ring that makes sure the wheel is centered on the hub (thats why its called a hub-centric ring). it makes sure the lugnuts are perfectly aligned through the holes so that they all get tightned down evenly. its not a necessity, but it helps. I lost my 2 front hubcentric rings last week at the track, i was ****ed.
woo hoo! put my rims on. looks nice. I took her for a nice little test drive. ride seems a little harder and I feel a little more resistance on the steering wheel now. maybe I do need to go and get the car aligned and/or balance the tires. took her up to 120 and the wheels didnt fall off so I would say it was successfull!
