However, they did not properly tested the 2000 or 2001 Maxima to run close to that time! Everyone knows its possible to do 6.7sec again with the new Maxima, but they might not want to or they might not be able to with the different climates and condition of the car.

Maybe if Motor Trend could do some magic again, like they did with the Maxima back in 1995, a 2002 Max with 6.7sec would be damn impressive!

Read carefully before you post!! 95 does 0-60 in 6.6s. 2000 does it in 6.7s. It says on the brochures!

When I had just a aluminum flywheel and a RT cat{almost nothing really} I clocked 0-60 = 6.13 with my loaded 5spd 95 maxima{G-Tech anyways}. Although that was the best time I got I did a ton of others between 6.2-6.4.
BTW that was with a full interior and all and for Steve's sake, the windows were down . Anyways my point is MT #'s were not "magical" rather they real.

ya, nobody seems to understand the idea of WAY more HP and only 200more pounds plus slightly shorter gearing and way better tires. even though the new one has 17's i bet the wider better tires make up for the difference in that they can launch better. If the auto is at 7.0 in a I30 which is another 100lbs or so heavier and then you get a lighter maxima with 2 more gears and prolly better tires. don't the I30's come with the 215/55 and the SE's with 225/50 this car is gonna run a low 6 second time to 60. MT got the 6.6 in an SE with most options so it was fairly heavy for a 95 even though they were lighter than the next years. I don't understand how people think it's only gonna equal the time of a 2k1 because it's THE SAME CAR WITH A WAY BETTER ENGINE AND BETTER GEARING. SO STFU.

7 might be correct for aan unbroken in 2002 I35, considering I got a 6.7 in an unbroken in 02 MAX. I would say once broken in it will produce a 6.7 or 6.8 and the 02 MAX a 6.4-6.5 time. With the way the mags. are testing these cars the Auto are closing the gap.

i wouldn't go that far. i'd say 6.8 maybe for a broken in auto maxima. and a 6.0-.6.1 for a broken in 2k2 6-spd. we'll have to see. but those people saying 6.4 at best for the 6-spd are dumb.

It is NOT 200 lbs heavier - where do you guys keep getting this?

From Nissan news:

2k1 SE 5spd 3199
2k2 SE 6spd 3224

2k1 SE auto 3245
2k2 SE auto 3261

That's 25lbs for the manual and 16 for the auto.

Even a dead clock is right 2x a day. LOL.

Here's some gems from MotorTrend.

Car of the Year

1988 Pontiac Grand Prix
1983 AMC / Renault Alliance
1981 Chrysler K Cars, Dodge Aries /
1980 Chevrolet Citation
1971 Chevrolet Vega

Part of their problem is that the only select cars that are all new.
