does the signal decrease if you put it into the 3rd brake light housing? or through the ceiling??
curious, because i was going to buy one soon and wish to conceal the unit somewhere inside the car..

check out their website

mike (?) valentine discusses this issue and said that if he could make it concealable and get the same sensitivity w/o falsies he'd do it...

he's been challenged b/c of the k40 and he can't get it to be concealable and reliable.

for me, i love it...great reception, i don't care if it's on my window

Yeah, I don't care if it's in my window, either. That way it gets the best reception, and it's easy to yank down to lock-up or take to another vehicle.

Yes, I've done it

If you put it on your visor and put the remote display on your dash somewhere, below the line of being able to see it outside the car, you're in fine shape. I tapped into the cigarette lighter for power and ran the cord up the pillar.

I'd much rather have a V1 on the visor than a concealed K40. V1 is heads above anything else. Check out caranddriver.com anc click on radar detectors on the left.

My brother has one and

the Viper I drove had one in a box between the head rest on I guess you would call the rear dash board. Anyway the front and rear of this box had like home speaker type covers/netting on the front and rear and the hidden display was cut into the dash.. I have a distance shot of it if you want it.. You have to send me a email to me though..

I ran a wire out of the housing for the sunroof controls/map ligt to my v1 and then use the optional visor mount so that it fits in the space between the rear view mirror and the top of the windshield. It's way up out of the way and seems to operate very well (both fore and aft) from this position.

I miounted my mom's in a box on the rear deck and then put mine on the windshield of her car just to see how much of a difference there was in where it was placed. . . I found that the one on the rear deck doesn't really pick up the weak signals all that well from the front. . . Things like alarms and stuff like that tend not to set it off anymore. . . It does, however, pick up stronger signals just as well as my V1 when the intensity tends to get up to about 3 LED bars. The hardest part about stealth mounting it is making sure it sees out the front of the vehicle. . . It is a lot harder than it looks, took just as long to create the box and install it as it did to get it so that it actually saw out the front of the car. . . Also, be careful if mounting it in plastic. . . I know with the Radio shack box I used the plastic "lens" became disfigured because of the sun, and I am going to have to redo it with something more sturdy.
