ok..how much hp do they free up? yes, i have read how much they free up, but i want testimonials... from real people

i am lookin into getting them.

what part numbers are the new belts that i will have to get?

i am coming up on my 60,000 mile mark, and since i will be changing belts, i figure, why not add some hp, plus this is a mod the wife won't see, so i can't get in trouble.. hehe

I bet they are good for a few hp... You won't feel anything dramatic, but you do feel it. The engine revs a bit quicker, especially at lower rpms. I think Hogan is running a GD on them right now with belts....

How hard was it to install on your max.
I think my friend wants me to help install one on his automagic max.
Thanks

be careful with the belt tensioners... You probably need a gear puller also. I got mine put in at a shop... but the install didn't look too hard. The pulley bolt will take some torque, but with air tools, it should be ok

You'll still be slow.

Check my site for belt part numbers (performance page).

There is absalutly no need to use a gear puller. My max had 99K miles on it when I put my UDP on and the pulley came off in my hands, I did not even pull on the thing really, it just fell off. Air tools whould definalty make getting the pulley off much easier but I used a 2 foot breaker bar/spinich and just took about 5 swings at at my wrench and the bolt loosened right up. I attempted using brute force but that did not work at all.

I think it is supposed to be like 5 - 8 HP or so but I dont have the magazine with me right now that I saw somethign intresting in. It was in last months Sport Compact Car and they were using it on Project Ford Focus. They had an equation in there that let them see how much HP or torque they were gaining throughout the gears. If I find it tonight I will post it on here.

i installed the udp myself. except for the 45 minutes downtime of being given the wrong size belts from autozone and having to drive to it to get the new ones and all, it took about hour and a half. there's not a lot to it really. just make sure everything is done according to instructions so you don't do something insane to have the crank out of whack. i noticed it revved more freely. it didn't really add much bhp, but if this makes sense, my car felt like it accelerated much smoother. it gained a little on bottom end for sure... i've heard from several that it's more effective on 5-speeds.

is it true that you shouldn't get a UDP if you have a system. I remember reading this a while back.

I put one on my 99 se 5-spd. with my wife (to step on the brake) and had no need for a gear puller or air tools. However, the crank bolt is on there good! I bought my kit with belts and did not notice the sizes. It's easy to do yourself. The only probs. is the pwr steering pump, just figuring out the tensioner hardware. I noticed a nice increase and do suggest this product. The only draw back...... You'll be used to the gain quick!
