I don't think those #'s are bad, maybe not awesome, but not bad. He gained 70 FWHP with the SC, I would not complane.

Actualy more like 75 more FWHP because he had to take out his ecu. His last reported dyno was in 3rd gear, if these #'s were in 4th gear you would have to tack on another 5-10 FWHP gain.

Hm...if he only got that kind of number, if I dyno I probably be ever lower.

Btw, Cheston's car is a 5spd. So, surprising numbers indeed.

it was a 4th gear pull, on stock 15s. and about 85°F at the time of the pull.

well. back to the drawing board. change oil. change fuel filter. change intake, and remod ECU. tweak the exhaust, and then we'll see..

I know that, thats why I said tack on another 5-10 HP. Read it again, you will understand.

Sprint, thats ironic. Look at crabs I30, that guy has 2 of every mod known to man and then some but yet he only put down 212FWHP{I think}. I guess the more mods you have the less power you get, to a point .

Re: Hmm ... disappointing dyno numbers on Chestons Supercharged max ...

My 99SE 5Sp with 3.33" pulley was able to pull 277.7HP and 260.1 torque in 4th gear for my best run. My other run was 276.0/251.7. The better of the two run came after cooling the engine down for about 15 minutes. The conditions were 84.8 degress and 29.4-0.37in.Hg. I also have budget Y, Greddy catback. This run was with OZ monte carlo 17" rim.

WOW...sighmax. Isn't that around 300hp crank? Your car must haul booty!

In chestons page it says "fwhp". I always forget...is that Front wheel hp or fly wheel hp?

If he got nearly 250hp at the wheels and stock autos put out 160?....whats the big deal?

The more mods on the Max, the less power it makes theory seems to fit here.

Dont feel bad...

My S/C 5th gen only put down 237hp & 217lb-ft uncorrected.
That was with stock pulley and stock exhaust...
Everything was stock except the S/C kit...

Feel better?

I never dyno'ed w/ the 3.25 pulley + 3" exh though.

that's what i told him he was gonna get. but he kept telling me 255 and i said no. those are still some decent numbers for a 4th gear pull. we need to all dyno in the same gear for the 5-spd's so they can compare their numbers better.

hmmm

I have always dyno'd in 4th, true the 3rd gear will give better #'s but I think that 4th gear is a better 1 to 1 ratio. Can someone give us some insight on what is best to run in either 3rd or 5th? Thanks
