well my 96 z71 will run right next to my 95 and my truck has around 260HP. the new z71's are pushing around 300 horses stock and add the headers and exhaust on it-- he will probley beat you but you should eventually mabye catch up.

Start midway through 3rd on a roll at about 75 and see how he does by the time you are at the end of 4th or into 5th.

unless you are a below average driver i think you will win, albeit not by as much as you might think. The fastest truck i know of, besides Syclones and Lightnings, are Sierra C3s, which I think are identcal to the newest Z71s. They run 0-60 in like 7.3 seconds so they aren't any joke, they wax an auto maxima

yesi can drive a 5spd. i thought those things came from the factory doin' 0-60 in like 8 secs??? i thought i read it somewhere... how much do u think headers and exhaust could really help him? and btw, he said he hasn't been able to get it over 98 mph so maybe i'll run him through 4th

you run a 6.6 stock, you'll still beat him esp from a roll or top end. people don't understand that. a truck with 600hp and 33"super swampers and a 4" lift kit won't beat most decent cars out there up top. esp top speed. a max would beat one up top. 3 times less hp.

i'm from MS and that's all there is around here. you could take one of those z71's if you can drive. chances are, if you just have a better reaction time, you could smoke him. that's the thing about racing, the guy in back usually freaks and skrews up. always get the hole shot!

no, they just run out of steam around there. one of my dads friends had a 454 turbo chevy with a 5kStall TQ and he ran 9's in the 1/8 mile. low nines but he said the truck fell on it's face 100ft before the finish. trucks are fast to a point. i'd race any truck.

actually this is not true. My friend took his govenor out of his z71 and i paced him and he topped out at 125 so they dont run out of steam (or at least the 96-current dont because of the Vortec

must have been real stable at that speed plus a 5-spd max tops out at around 140.

Again start at around 70-80mph and see how the truck is doing at the top of 4th (125mph) or even into 5th?

A 5spd Maxima would beat a fat@ss Z71. A 5spd Maxima wouldn't beat a Ford Lightning. My friend has one, and it sounds amazing. Like a P!ssed off Dragon girgling fire.

I think a 5spd Max would beat a Lightning on the highway. ie starting at 80-100mph to 140. The lightning would see badges. Especially if the Max had two basic mods of an intake and y-pipe.

Are you sure about that, bro ? He says most his power is on the highway. Given they are 4-speed automatic, they are pure BEASTS. Supercharged 380HP V-8 But, we do have a world class V-6, and DAMN 5spd max's pull hard. It would be fun to see. All I know is my Maxima looked pretty puny parked next to his lightning.

Well I'm not sure but I would put money on it! A stock Lightning against a 4th-5th gen 5spd with an intake and y-pipe from 97mph+ I think the Max would pull ahead. Most of the Max power is on the highway as well plus we have a lot better aerodynamics. Our 4th gear pulls pretty hard to 125mph. It would be interesting to see for sure!

I don't care how much power the Ford has there is no way I would want to be cruising in a pick up at 130mph+ which a Max can do easily.

I have a 5th gen 5spd with stillen intake (and custom airflow tubing), Cattman Y and I like my 3rd and 4th gears best myself. I feel my 4th gear pulls just as hard as my 3rd or very close to it all the way to redline. A stock 2K2 Altima 5spd or a 2K2 auto Max should be able to take the Lightning at high speeds as well. The Altima pulls hard in 3rd and 4th (right to about 130mph!) I wonder how many Lightning will last to 200,000Miles+?? Might be fun to own one for a few years while under warranty...
