Civic SI (supercharged) run in....

I normally don't street race, but...on the way home from work the other week I came up behind a Civic Si with an airplane size wing mounted on the trunk. We turned a corner and he nailed it, so I figured what the heck, let's see how good these SI's run. Too make a long story short, I didn't really start gaining on him until we got up to about 115 mph (but he wasn't getting away from me up to that point either). As I said, this happened a few weeks ago, but I was hesitant to post it, since I didn't think SI's were supposed to run that good (and I figured I'd get a bunch a crap about not being able to drive or something along those lines).

Anyway, I see the guy this morning and talked to him. It turns out he is running a supercharger, intake and exhaust sytems. I don't feel so bad anymore. The neat thing is the guy was so surprised that the Maxima stayed right with him the whole time. As a matter of fact, he thought I had some some very serious mods as well as the car runs. He said he has been telling all his friends about this bad a** Maxima that he had a run in with.

Wow...I would have been hesitant to post that too...

I had a run-in with a new grand-am GT maybe 2 months ago...and we hit it from a roll...and I was only pulling VERY slowly...much slower than I should have been....so I hit my NOS...and it was all over for the little Grand-am....turns out he had NOS too!

I once lost to an older V6 Grand Am while driving my gf's 95 240Sx. It was embarassing so I was keeping this to myself.

killin time

Dude..civics are so pesky...Once I get my turbo and exhaust, there is one civic out there that's gonna be doing some crying... I have an auto GXE, and this guy that I work with drives a manual civic turbo...I'm not gonna say he waxed me, but there was definetly a car length between us...It really ****ed me off. I must avenge that disgrace and redeem myself! But in the mean time, I'm content with crushing taurus's and gran prix's. By the way...how much horse power would a mid 90's taurus have? I need a rough estimate so I can rub it in someone's face.. Thanks!

well let's see....Grand Am GT's run low 16s....if they are LUCKY.
stock auto max's can run high 15s if they are lucky

He might get an auto max off the line...but after first gear it's all over for the grand am.

while we're on the topic...this last saturday at the local strip, there's this guy in a 95 civic ex saying he's faster then all the imports in our car club...now, we do have a new wrx in our club, a supercharged Si, and a 94 hatchback with a turbo '97 GSR motor, but we thought it would be more fun to beat him in a luxury sedan...so I tell him I'll race him...we go down the strip, and we are going to run them in front of where my car club parks so we have witnesses just in case...the light turns green, I tear him up BAD off the line, so I let off and wait for him to catch up...he said he wasn't ready...okay, so we go back, and the light is already green, so we just do a rolling start at 20...first gear, I'm barely pulling, second gear, pulling a little more, then towards the middle of 3rd, I start walking him...with two of my friends in my car...we go back, I was ****ed because it was even close, then I found out he was spraying 75 shot of NOS...and I still beat his ***!!!

I lost to a Sunfire GT, 5spd once in my I30T. I did have a ton of stuff in the trunk and passangers though, but still Anyhow, I own no Maxima's now Maybe soon again, a used 4th gen 5spd or something.

Okay here's my embarassing story........

I'm on the 135 south (going from LIE to Southern State Pkwy.) and I'm travelling at a decent clip (80mph). I notice a super clean, Mazda Millenia S. I notice the driver is all tucked down in the passenger seat leaning against the door in the middle lane. So I pass him in the fast lane, and boom he takes off. I was in 5th and downshifted to 4th. Traffic holds us up so I just give up and let him go, then I notice up ahead he's taking the exit I'm going for. So I try and surprise him, little do I know he's waiting for me. So I catch up and he shoots off again. Now we're doing 90-110 mph cutting through traffic and I cant believe I'm not pulling on him. He opens a gap (2-3 car lengths) and cant leave me, but I cant catch him. A few exits later traffic slows to a grind and I pull up alongside him. He winds down his window and says "dont feel bad, I just got my car out of the shops 3 days ago and there's about $4600 in enggine work.... I'm running a 60 shot NoS and probably putting down around 240 hp to the wheels". Now his exhaust is stock but it definitely explained how I couldn't beat him. I was humbled by a Mazda Millenia??? Man I need a y-pipe, and maybe that UDP. Although I was beat, it motivated me. I'm gonna find a way to make 200hp at the wheels and stay normally aspirated. Stay tuned for more.........

I raced my friends Si about 2 wks ago, he has the regular bolt-ons and is running 6 psi on his Jackson SC. Anyways I beat him by 2 car lengths to 85. But to be fair, he was running lean.

That is good. What is the horsepower on the B16?
