No need to send the thread to Nissan; the '09 Max has been finalized and under road testing for months. The public intro is just a month or two away, and it will reach dealer lots this coming spring. And take my word - it will not be mistaken for the car in the pic that started this thread.

whoever does not eat their words upon the incredible 7th gen debut, shall be

those dumb pics mean nothing. no one has seen anything. Nissan is keeping it under cloak.... probably to not kill 08 sales.

he knows everything in ALL the other "7th gen" threads. plus being a member that owned every generation, he is the most educated in guessing.

MAD2DAMAX - The last three words in NismoMax80's post are extremely intuitive.

Once one has owned nothing but Datsun/Nissan products for 29 and 2/3 years (since April 4, 1978), has spent countless hours hanging out at my local Nissan dealer, and has eagerly anticipate ever new generation of the Maxima since 1982, eventually even the dumbest dog (me) begins to detect a pattern. Over time, given the willingness to waste hundreds of hours searching and digging, even variations in patterns can be discerned.

No, I have not seen the 7th generation Maxima. Yes, I have it on good word that the 7th gen is already on the road (taped over) being tested. But then that would be an easy assumption for anyone to make, considering the promises we heard earlier this year from none other than the mouth of Mr. Ghosn.

I have heard of no problems that might delay what would be the normal 'car show presentation' of the 7th gen '09 Maxima this winter and arrival at dealers this coming spring. But then, as my investment fund managers constantly remind me, 'past earnings are no guarantee of future performance'.

So 'educated guess' would be the applicable term here. But then NismoMax80 already told us that.

few comments on 6th gen and 2009 Maxima

I have to say like many others I really like the 4th and 5th generation Maximas and was a little resistant to the changes of the 2004 model but realized they did have to change and they did. I think they made some good improvements in the 2007 model which is what I currently own and drive. Mine is a SE model with the sensory/audio/dpp packages and I find it a great combination of performance and luxury, by far the best car I've ever owned.

I am looking forward to the 2009 redesign and I suspect less of the concepts from that intima design will be used in it than will be not used. I can't imagine them trying to sell that kind of car as a Maxima in the US, it's much too similar looking to the Toyota Avalon with a few added twists (e.g. that windshield and sky view roof all as one).

I think they should stay about the same size, update the styling to go a bit in the CLS direction as has been speculated will be done, go with that 3.7 engine preferably set up at about 320 of HP and call it the new Maxima and offer it again the SE and SL models. The G35 engine is 306 HP so I"m not sure they want to exceed that with the new Maxima engine but I would be glad if they do.

I talked to the president of my dealership a few weeks ago. He has seen a pic of the final sheet metal and was very impressed (What else is he gonna say?). He said the front end in particular was like nothing Nissan has done.

I am very pleased with the new Murano, and if it is any indication of the 7th gen. Max, I am getting excited already. I also expect spy pics in Dec., with release at one of the winter auto shows.

Interestingly, the dealership had a GT-R stop in during the summer while doing cross country road testing. Evidently they were driving it at night and holing up during the day, and needed to do some mechanical tweaks using the dealership's shop. It was very exciting for everyone at the dealership, and the myriad of lab-coated Japanese tech's had their hands full keeping everyone at a safe distance.

I'm due to replace my '03 soon. It is either going to be a '09/'10 Maxima, or Pontiac G8.

It is frustrating that the car hasn't been leaked yet. With Maxima sales in the dumper, what do they have to lose? We haven't even gotten any "taped over" spy shots yet, at this point back in '02 we pretty much knew exactly what the '04 was going to look like.

Ya'll all have been asking for something different and now that you get it... YOU DONT LIKE? wtf?? I mean it's all about creativity.... I'm sure if the people who designed were sitting in front of your computer in your shoes and you were in the showroom creating models and scaling things down you would think you had a work of art... I like it, and its different, and regardless of what others think... they own it.... so just get ready to buy it and start customizing it.... then you will have something to say is your own, too... Wow I brought myself to tears....

thats just a concept car. they will never sell it. engineers get bored and create cars like that for fun. i think the color is part of what makes it so ugly, but i do like the doors.

Ghase - The wonderful thing about the Maxima is that you should be able to get a 7th gen '09 that will be stunningly good looking (nothing like the photos in this thread) decently equipped at a base MSRP around $31 to 32K (available for $29K about five months after intro), and with virtually ALL available options for well under $40K.

Granted, that is big bucks. But when we consider the prices of EQUIVALENT vehicles, the Maxima usually wins hand-down.

In this pic it looks like they chopped off the front half of the 6 gen body style, chopped off the @ss end of the Z, and then put it altogether?

Anyone else see this too?

I think everyone needs to relax a bit, its just a concept, sure they make take some styling "cues" from it but its highly unlikely that its going to be such an extreme change. The Maxima has always been a Sports Sedan, and I don't think they will be changing that anytime soon. There are enough Mid-class luxury sedans and its just too competitive in that spectrum.

True Sports Sedans are much rarer in the price range the maxima has always been offered in. Sure most cars nowadays (even minivans) are at of above the 250hp+ mark, (look at the Honda Odyssey, Nissan Quest, Toyota Sienna). But horsepower doesn't make a car "sporty", it may be quick, fast, powerful, but the word "Sport" is much too overused nowadays when referring to certain cars.

Anyways, got a little off-topic

As for the concept pix, the first thing that came to mind was the Mercedes CLS and the new Honda Accord...just a bit more "roundish" as both of those cars have edgier lines.

I guess we can only speculate until the real deal is released for the consumer to purchase.

The skyroof is not appealing in my opinion and I wonder why nissan is focusing on that feature so much on the maxima. Is it a luxury thing? Anyway, the way the maxima has been developing over the years my next car is going to be a g35 sedan.

I hate to see the Maxima (4dsc) die off. O' well theres always the altima and change the badge to the "real maxima" hehe.

lol they should have called the 03' G35 a maxima...anyways i see the g35 as the 5th gen's successor they just went in a whole different way with the 6th gen...anyways i think if u should rebadge anything as the "real maxima" it should be the G35.....
