2002 mixima 0-100 KM/h ....

I read in the 2002 auto-guide car book that the 2002 maxima does 0-100 KM/H in 7.5 seconds ?! and the altima (with the 3.5) does 7 seconds... is this true ?!?!

(BTW 60 mhp = 96 km/h ... not quite 100 so 0-60 time is slightly smaller .2 or .3)

they probally tested a 5 speed manual altima and a 4speed auto maxima... I35 Auto tested at 7.0 Seconds 0-60mph.

I don't think that's a very accurate assumption. 0-60 is more like 0-99.5km/h and even if it was then 4km/h wouldn't add 0.3secs.

Also, the Altima was tested at approximately 6.0 seconds 0-60 and 14.5 seconds 1/4mile. The Maxima isn't too far off those times.

I dont think those times are accurate considering that they got the I35 to 60m in 7 flat. The Max weighs less and should do it in about 6.7 or 6.8 for the auto. An unofficial test of my 2k I got it to 60 in 6.72 sec before it was broken in. Now the 6spd is a different story!

i35 performance

The magazine showed that the I35 has 40 hp on the Mercedes, and 100 lbs lighter. Yet, the performance were almost identical. That would be the case of bad gearing?

I've never seen times that slow for the Maxima and Altima before. I know that the Maxima had to travel farther and driver probably had to upshift @60mph, but I doubt that it would add another .9 seconds. The same issue with the Altima. How could all of that add another .8 seconds? I can't think of anything else, unless they just can't drive.
Hopefully those are the times for the automatics in both cases. That's my only other guess.

Re: i35 performance

Comparing a Mercedes E320?? The Benz has a 5 speed auto whereas the I35 is a 4 speed auto, still. The gears will definitely help, as it did the Mercedes.

Mercedes

the one they tested was the C320. 215 hp, 3439 lbs, similar 0-60 and 1/4 as the I35. November's Motor Trend.

That would be because of the advantages of RWD launches I would think...

96.xx km/h (almost 97) = 60 mhp ..thats a fact... and im estimating .2 or .3 ... cuz i've compared my max being 0-100km/h 7 sec. and 0-60 mhp 6.6 sec.
